SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
2006-2007
There are 22 schools offering scholarships to PA FBLA members graduating in the class of
2007.
A letter indicating your intent to apply for an FBLA scholarship should be directed to the
contact person listed for the school. That school will provide you with all necessary
materials to apply for its scholarship; there are no other materials required by PA FBLA to
be submitted. The individual school will be responsible for the selection of the scholarship
recipient(s). The postmark deadline for the PA FBLA William Selden Scholarships is
March 1, 2007.
►ALVERNIA COLLEGE - This scholarship is for $1,000 and is renewable each year until a bachelor’s degree is earned if
the recipient maintains a 2.5 quality point average. The scholarship can be used for full-time study only (a minimum of 12 credits
per semester). Alvernia College offers an FBLA scholarship to all eligible students.

►BLOOMSBURG UNIVERSITY - This scholarship is for $1,500, non-renewable, beginning Fall 2006. The scholarship
criteria are found below:






Incoming College of Business freshman who has been active in FBLA in high school.
Must have earned 15 credits during his/her first semester with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and who has financial need.
The second half of the scholarship ($750) will be applied to the student’s second semester tuition upon verification
of the GPA.
Financial need will be the determining factor in case of multiple eligible students.
The scholarship will rotate within the six departments of the College of Business beginning with a student admitted
to the Department of Accounting starting Fall 2006. The awards will rotate the following years as follows: BE/BIS,
CIS, Finance/Legal Studies, Management, and Marketing. At the end of the rotation, it will start over with
Accounting.
The student must complete the College of Business scholarship application found on the PA FBLA web
site/scholarship section and submit to the Bloomsburg University Dean of Admissions.

►CAMBRIA-ROWE BUSINESS COLLEGE – This scholarship is $3,600 toward the ASB degree program of the
winners’ choice. Six hundred dollars ($600) is applied to each of the students’ six (6) terms. All applicants must be seniors,
active in FBLA, and shall have an overall high school GPA of 2.5 verified by an official transcript. The scholarship can be used
for full-time study only and recipients must enroll within one (1) year of high school graduation. Recipients will be chosen on the
basis of scholarship application, a letter addressed to the scholarship committee stating their career goals in business, and one
(1) letter of recommendation. These scholarships may be used at Johnstown or Indiana. Cambria-Rowe Business College
offers two (2) FBLA scholarships. The deadline to apply is January 31.

►CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA COLLEGE - This year Central Pennsylvania College will award scholarships to
qualified PA FBLA members. Scholarship recipients will be awarded $1,000 toward their first three terms of study and must be
used toward any of Central Penn’s majors. Selection criteria will mandate that applicants be 2007 high school seniors. To
qualify, you must be a 2007 high school graduate; enroll as a full-time, degree-seeking student; and submit a Central Penn Club
Scholarship Application no later than April 1, 2007. Central Pennsylvania College offers an FBLA scholarship to all eligible
students. The student must have the FBLA adviser’s name and school phone number on the application.

►DOUGLAS EDUCATION CENTER - This is a 25% of current tuition only scholarship for any of Douglas’ Associate in
Specialized Business Degree programs. The scholarship must be used in the year awarded. The Douglas Education Center
offers one (1) FBLA scholarship. Students must have a financial need and be a member of FBLA.

►DUBOIS BUSINESS COLLEGE - These scholarships are for $3,000 and payable at the start of the student’s third and
fifth quarters in the amount of $1,500 each. The successful applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student in an Associate
Degree program and shall maintain a 3.0 quality point average to maintain the scholarship. All candidates shall contact the
school. Prior to FBLA submission deadline, all candidates shall arrange for an entrance exam at DuBois Business College.
These scholarships can be for students attending any of our three locations: DuBois, Huntingdon, and Oil City. The DuBois
Business College offers two (2) scholarships at each campus.

►INDIANA UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA (IUP) - This scholarship is for $500 for an incoming freshman who
enrolls as a full-time student in IUP’s Eberly College of Business and Information Technology (ECOBIT). Indiana University of
PA offers one (1) FBLA scholarship. Applicants must complete an IUP Eberly College freshman scholarship application.

►JOHNSON & WALES UNIVERSITY - Three (3) scholarships are being offered as follows: One (1) at $1,500
renewable for up to four (4) years totaling $6,000; one (1) at $1,200 renewable for up to four (4) years totaling $4,800; and one at
$1,000 renewable for up to four (4) years totaling $4,000. These scholarships are renewable only if the recipient maintains a
satisfactory academic standing, is enrolled in a full-time day school program, and participates in the Phi Beta Lambda Chapter at
Johnson and Wales University. Johnson & Wales University offers three (3) FBLA scholarships.

►LAUREL BUSINESS INSTITUTE - These scholarships are for one-half tuition of the applicant’s choice of program
including twelve (12) specialized associate degrees or six (6) diploma programs. The successful applicant must be a full-time
student and must maintain a 3.0 quality point average to continue the scholarship. The Laurel Business Institute offers two (2)
FBLA scholarships. Deadline: January 31, 2007.

►MOUNT ALOYSIUS COLLEGE - This scholarship is valued at $1,000 a year and is renewable for a maximum of four
years (depending on the degree being pursued) as long as the recipient maintains a 3.3 grade point average each year.
Preference is given to candidates enrolled in baccalaureate degree program. Mount Aloysius College will award four (4)
scholarships yearly. In addition to the FBLA scholarship, Mount Aloysius College offers generous institutional grants and
scholarships.

►NEWPORT BUSINESS INSTITUTE (LOWER BURRELL) - These scholarships are for one-half tuition
(approximately $9,100) for any 21-month program leading to an Associate in Specialized Business Degree. The recipient must
maintain a 3.0 quality point average and excellent attendance. The Newport Business Institute offers two (2) FBLA scholarships.

►NEWPORT BUSINESS INSTITUTE (WILLIAMSPORT) - This scholarship is for one-half tuition for any 18-month
program. A 3.0 quality point average is required during the period the scholarship is in effect. The Newport Business Institute

►PACE INSTITUTE – This year graduating seniors can apply for two different scholarship awards: PACE/FBLA
Scholarship (up to 3 awarded, covers 50% of total tuition costs, requires active membership in the high school FBLA
organization). The PACE Scholarship (multiple scholarships may be awarded, cover 25% of total tuition costs). Eligibility
requirements are as follows: must be a high school senior, three letters of recommendation must accompany your application,
most recent high school transcript must be sent to PACE, must meet with an Enrollment Specialist and apply prior to the test
date, must be enrolling in a Specialized Associate Degree program starting in either Summer 2007 or Fall 2007. Contact the

PENN COMMERCIAL BUSINESS/TECHNICAL SCHOOL - Two (2) 30% of tuition scholarships are being offered in
any degree program offered by the school. The recipient shall maintain a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) or the scholarship is

scholarship for an incoming freshman who enrolls as a full-time degree-seeking student in a bachelor’s or associate’s degree
major within Pennsylvania College of Technology’s School of Business and Computer Technologies. Recipients must be active
FBLA members and enroll at our College within one year of high school graduation. The Pennsylvania College of Technology

►The Pennsylvania College of Technology is offering one $2,000 scholarship to be awarded through the national office. The
postmark deadline for this scholarship is April 1, 2007. Click on this link for the application. The $2,000 scholarship is not
necessarily guaranteed to a Pennsylvania student; applications are accepted from students across the country for first-time
students enrolling in a Bachelor’s Degree program in the School of Business and Computer Technologies.
►PITTSBURGH TECHNICAL INSTITUTE – Pittsburgh Technical Institute offers a one-half tuition scholarship. The
value of the scholarship is six thousand dollars ($6,000) for the first year and is renewable for an additional $6,000 for the second
year if the recipient maintains a 3.0 average. The applicant must enroll and start classes in either July or October of the year of
his/her high school graduation. All candidates shall submit to Pittsburgh Technical Institute the following: (1) A 250-word essay
on why you should be awarded this scholarship. (2) A copy of your most recent transcript. (3) One letter of
introduction/recommendation (from parent, relative, teacher, counselor, etc). (4) Submit a completed scholarship application.
Pittsburgh Technical Institute offers one (1) FBLA scholarship.

►SOUTH HILLS SCHOOL OF BUSINESS & TECHNOLOGY - The South Hills School of Business & Technology
will award a $500 annual renewable scholarship payable at the start of the second term of the first year. All scholarship
applicants shall be 2006-2007 high school seniors and active FBLA members. Recipients shall be determined on the basis of a
review of the scholarship application, participation in FBLA, academic record, extra-curricular activities, and a personal interview.
A scholarship student must be enrolled full-time and maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA). Also, confirmation of
active membership in South Hills PBL (college equivalent of FBLA) is required. South Hills School of Business and Technology
offers one (1) FBLA scholarship. All applicants must have an admissions application on file with South Hills School along with an
FBLA scholarship application on file by the deadline of April 30.

►TEMPLE UNIVERSITY - These scholarships are for $500 for incoming freshman, enrolled in the Fox School of Business
and Management. The successful applicants shall be full-time students who have completed the application process by
March 31 and are in the top 2/5 of his/her graduating class. Temple University offers two (2) FBLA scholarships.

►WEST VIRGINIA CAREER INSTITUTE – These scholarships are equal to fifty percent of the tuition cost of any
program offered—degree or diploma. The value of a fifty percent scholarship is $8,550 for a degree program. The recipient
shall maintain a “C” grade average. All candidates shall contact the school. Prior to FBLA submissions deadline, all candidates
shall arrange for a scholarship test at West Virginia Career Institute. The West Virginia Career Institute offers two (2) FBLA
scholarships.

YTI CAREER INSTITUTE - Two (2) scholarships are being offered for one-half tuition each to be used in one of the
following programs: Business Administration, Computer Systems Specialists or Culinary Arts/Restaurant Management. All
applicants shall be 2007 high school seniors and active FBLA members. Recipients shall be determined on the basis of
academic record, activities, scholarship application, letter stating reasons for career choices, and two letters of recommendation.
A scholarship recipient is encouraged to maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) while attending YTI Career
Institute. The scholarship must be utilized within one (1) academic year of the applicant’s graduation from high school. YTI
Career Institute offers two (2) FBLA scholarships.

PENNSYLVANIA FBLA WILLIAM SELDEN SCHOLARSHIPS - Ten (10) scholarships are being offered to
applicants who complete the PA FBLA Who’s Who Criteria and place 1st-10th place at the State Leadership Conference. The
Who’s Who Criteria can be found in the downloadables section of the PA FBLA website. The deadline for the Who’s Who
application is March 1, 2007. The scholarships may be used at any college for any major. Scholarships are paid after the
completion of the first semester of post-secondary education, and the student must have maintained a 2.0 GPA. The scholarship
awards are: first place, $1,500; second place, $1,000; third place, $750; fourth-tenth places, $500. Three entries per chapter
are permitted.
