Brief Description
A Strategic Partnership has been formed between Natural England and the
Environment Agency in the River Great Ouse catchment to provide a
programme of events, services and advice to farmers and land managers to
reduce diffuse water pollution from agriculture (DWPA).
The principle purpose of the Catchment Co-ordinator role is to work with your
colleagues in the River Great Ouse Catchment to:
· Draw up an action plan to identify and target appropriate advisory work to
address the priority issues
· Hold an event to launch and publicise the partnership
· Carry out and co-ordinate Environment Officer one to one farm visits to
identify opportunities for changes in management practices to address DWPA
issues
· Manage contracted specialist advice of one to one farm visits and group
events to encourage changes in management practices.
· Coordinate quarterly Catchment Steering Group meetings
· Develop an exit strategy to communicate to landowners and farmers
· Produce quarterly reports for submission to NE
· Produce and mail out quarterly catchment newsletters

Detailed Description
Purpose of Job
Contribute to the reduction of diffuse pollution by helping farmers move
towards catchment sensitive farming methods.
Principal Accountabilities
Contribute to and co-ordinate the production of catchment appraisals to
identify priority areas for action.
Advise the ECSFDI and Lead CSFO in their assessment of strategic direction
for priorities, resources and stakeholder objectives in order to achieve most
cost effective reduction of diffuse pollution.
Develop a local communications plan and deliver that plan to promote the
wide dissemination of the benefits of catchment sensitive farming within the
catchment.
Maintain good liaison contacts within the ECSFDI, and with Area Environment
teams and catchment co-ordinators.
