OUTSTANDING SPEECH/DEBATE/THEATRE EDUCATOR
NOMINATION 2010-2011
The National Federation of State High School Associations annually recognizes outstanding high
school speech, debate or theatre educators. One educator can be nominated by each state for this honor.
Nominees must exemplify the highest standards of ethical conduct and carry the endorsement of their
respective state high school association. An NFHS awards committee reviews these nominations and
selects regional award winners. Criteria for evaluation includes:
1. Overall contributions
2. Service both to curricular and co-curricular activities
3. Organization and continuance of an activity program
4. Significant and on-going contribution to the field
5. Contributions to the profession both in and out of the state
To nominate an educator for this award:
1. Forward the nomination form to the nominee. Nominee completes first three pages.
Return to nominator with a billfold size or electronic photo.
2. Nominator adds 200-400 word statement of recommendation on page four.
3. Nominator sends completed packet to state activities association office for state
officer’s signature. In states where the NFHS member association is athletics only,
send directly to the NFHS address listed above.
4. State association office: Send the completed nomination form to NFHS, at the
address above, no later than November 1, or e-mail completed form to
ahays@nfhs.org.

copied or distributed to the NFHS awards committee.
