OBITUARY OF HYRUM BAIRD Ogden Standard-Examiner, Sunday, March 6, 1994, page 12C HYRUM BAIRD OGDEN – Hyrum Baird, 87, died Thursday, March 3, 1994 at a local care center. He was born June 10, 1907 in Byron, Big Horn, Wyoming, a son of Joseph and Margaret Helena Field Baird. He married Ruth Freestone on Aug. 8, 1932 in Farmington. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on April 30, 1941. She died Sept. 24, 1986. He was a member of the Ogden 73rd LDS Ward where he was a High Priest. He was a hard worker and owned and operated his own restaurant business, Hy’s Coffee Mug in Ogden, for 23 years. He then worked for Snappy Service on Kiesel and then opened Ray’s and Hy’s on Patterson. He also worked for the Weber County Jail as the cook for five years. Combined he was in the restaurant business for over 40 years. He was an avid gardener and worked hard to maintain a beautiful yard and garden. Surviving are one daughter and two sons, Norma Lee and Tony Hassell, Mr. Green; Donald H. and Myrna Baird, Ogden; Roger R. and Suzy Baird, Portland, Oregon; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Eugene Baird and Earl Baird, both of Ogden; Owen Baird, Roy. He was preceded in death by his parents; his identical twin brother, Joseph Baird, brothers, Clarence and Ivin Baird and three sisters, Rose Keller, Blanche Taylor and Pauline Summers. The family extends gratitude to Wasatch Care for attending to him during his declining years. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Wash. Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary Monday from 6 to 8 pm. and Tuesday Noon to 12:45 p.m. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park.
