Ladies and Gentlemen
I am indeed privileged and honoured to address you at this August occasion.
We are indeed proud to welcome you Capitec Bank in investing in our town. Your
move indicates investor confidence in our town. What is important to note is that
in these times of dire economic conditions we believe that any investment is
indeed a good sign.

We are indeed faced with very challenging moments. The daunting challenges
we currently face have left a great deal of economic uncertainty.
The plummeting rand, the consistent fuel hikes the high price of food and other
consumer products, the crisis in our neighbouring country Zimbabwe and more
relevant to the banking industry - the continuous hiking of interest rates.
Although other countries are not averse to these challenges it is, however, our
efforts and energy that will determine how we overcome these very trying
moments.
I believe that the opening of Capitec Bank is a move in the right direction. I say
so because I believe any institution that can provide a service to the community,
particularly the business sector is of paramount importance.
Many of our community members would like to be employed and earn a living but
unfortunately the current economic conditions cannot afford to provide jobs for
all. Nor can we, as government, employ all the people seeking employment.
I believe, however, there are immense opportunities for self employment.
Within all the prevailing economic sectors lie opportunities for individuals to
pursue some form of self-sustainable employment. I believe that we should
identify these opportunities both as the public and private sector and exploit the
potential to provide work and grow our local economy.
I believe Capitec Bank can create innovative products to help finance projects
and playa crucial role in the economic development of our town.
The mere fact that a shopping centre is going to be built in our town and the
expansion of existing business is indicative of the economic potential that exists
in Modimolle.
I believe this is an opportune time for us to work together, more fervently than
ever before, as stakeholders to provide economic direction, put our expertise and
resources together and take the initiative in enhancing the economic
development of our town.
We can do it. Let us get to work. It is really business as unusual at Capitec Bank.

In conclusion, I officially wish to extend a hearty welcome, on behalf of Modimolle
Municipality and the community of Modimolle, to Capitec Bank and I wish you all
the success in your future endeavors. I also wish to thank you for allowing me
this platform this evening.
To one and all I welcome you and hope you enjoy the rest of the evening.
Congratulations’ on this achievement – a giant is born at Modimolle.
