Meeting Notes 5/17/2010 Present: LaGarrett, Nathan, Jane, Sara Next meeting: 12-2pm, Bennu Coffee 1. Introductions: o LaGarrett- President- 3rd yr. C&I-Social Studies Ed. o research interest- history education and perceptions of African American history o Jane- President-Elect- 3rd yr. Ed. Psy.-Area 1 o research interest- how small group discussions lead to individual learning o Nathan- Communications-2nd yr. C&I- Early Childhood o research- ethical issues of research in the classroom, men in early childhood ed., & teacher collaborative groups o Sara- Treasurer- 3rd yr. Ed. Psy- Area 1 o course evaluation and student perspective, research- clickers, teacher technology integration o Mentors for officers: Allison for Sara, LaGarrett for Jane and Bindiya for Nathan 2. Money: o about $700 in budget o spent $250-300 on Symposium 2009 o LaGarrett, Jane, and Sara can access the account o Sara & Jane will attend UT money class o largest source of money comes from membership and symposium 3. History o 4th year of the organization o started after a Carl Grant talk o 1st year with no founding members 4. CRTE Purpose- to assist each other in research, to think about the field and what it means to be a professional in our field, and networking 5. 2010 Goals: o 1. increase membership by 30% to %50- 40 members on roster o 2. Increase attendance at meetings- 25 in attendance 6. Departmental Liaisons- to increase and diversify our membership o expand executive committee to include Ed. Dept. Liaisons (5or 6) and would be under the communications person (Nathan) C&I(2) possibilities-Holly, Gilberto, Maria Kiomi, Toni Olivie responsibility- Nathan Ed. Admin. possibilities-Daniel Spikes responsibility- LaGarrett Ed. Psy. possibilities-Jaime Krause, Kristen Harvey responsibility- Jane/Sara Sp.
