General Rules Single Cylinder Tractors

2004-2005-2006

1.

Judge’s decision will be final on any point of controversy. Any disagreements will result in disqualification.

2.

Open to two-wheel drive, rubber tired tractors. No dual wheels, chains, or spikes.

3.

All tractors are required to have a switch that will kill engines in case of chain or hitch breakage. The switch should be located within range of six inches (6”) either side of center of back of tractor and be a steel ring not less than 1 ½ “ in diameter.

4.

All tractors must be equipped with a dead man throttle on induction system and/or nitrous oxide system and minimum 2 ¾ pound dry chemical fire extinguisher or equivalent, which must be easily accessible.

5.

All exhausts must discharge vertically and be securely attached.

6.

Driver must put his tractor in a neutral position and be hand pushed to the sled. Tractor must be shut down before chain will be unhooked from the sled.

7.

No portion of the tractor shall interfere with the sled hitch during pull.

8.

Any part of the tractor touching the boundary line during pull will result in disqualification.

9.

Two attempts will be allowed to start sled except in pull-offs. One attempt only on a pull-off. The 1 st puller can drop five places, which means he will actually start in the 6 th position.

10.

Driver will be disqualified if/she delays a contest.

11.

Pulling position will be determined by drawing.

12.

Weight transfer sled will be used.

13.

Drawbar will be horizontal and stationary in all directions, with hitching device not more than ¾ inches in thickness and must have a 1 ½” round hole. Pulling point may not be more than ¾ inch from back edge of hitching devise parallel to and not more than 13 inches above the ground.

14.

All tractors must have a safety device to prevent turnovers. This device to have wheels or skid plate. Wheels are to be at least 1” wide and 5” in diameter. Skid pad to have at least 3 square inches at ground contact point. Wheels or pads must be no less than 5” behind the rear tires and not more than 5” above the ground. This device must be able to support the weight of the tractor.

15.

All weights must be safely secured to the tractor, not to extend beyond the rear tires. Any loss of weights or components that affect the pull will be cause for disqualification. Amended 4/7/02.

16.

No portion of any tractor may exceed 8 feet forward of the center of the rear wheel, including weights. No portion of any tractor may exceed 6 feet in width.

17.

Driver must remain seated during pull and have a normal seat with a 3” back minimum and fenders safely to protect drivers from tires.

18.

Tractors must be operated in a safe manner at all times and be equipped with workable brakes.

19.

Flywheels and starter pulleys must be of billet steel or alum. (No cast iron, or cast alum.) No bolted or welded on fins, no stamped steel pulleys. All starter pulleys must have a retaining device to prevent pulley from coming off crankshaft.

20. All final drive belts must be covered top 180 degrees and all flywheel and clutch assemblies must be covered 360 degrees with 1/8” steel or 3/16” aluminum. Rotating tunnel cover –must be 4 – 6 inches from rear-end forward and run a drive shaft loop, pillow block bearing, or a 1/8” heavy shield that is securely fastened. Amended 2/12/2006

21.

ALL engines must have a scatter shield opposite the cam side of the motor. It must be made of 1/8” steel or 3/16” alum.

Must cover full height and width of block and be attached in secure manner to frame and head or head plate.

22.

Helmets and fire suits are mandatory in all classes, and must be secure.

23.

All drivers should be clean and neatly attired. Tractors should be clean and painted.

24.

Drivers under 18 years of age must have parental signed consent on file.

25.

Consumption of alcoholic beverages will be grounds for disqualification. Amended 4/702

26.

Any person who refuses to be inspected for eligibility by routine check or money winners shall not be allowed to enter and/or pull in the class in question until legality is checked.

27.

Protests must be submitted in writing with $60, $10 of which goes to the Club. Person being protested must present their tractor to the Tech. Committee to be checked. If found to be legal he will get $50. If not, the person filing the protest gets

$50 of his money back. Any person refusing to be checked will be disqualified and can’t pull until proven legal.

28.

Tires must be no larger than 26 x 12 x 12 for clarification the maximum circumference is 88 ½” x 12 ¼” diameter.

ADDITIONAL PRO-STOCK RULES 1050 LB

1.

Single cylinder Pro Stock is defined as any tractor having a one cylinder air-cooled four cycle flathead, commercially produced manufactured block engine. Sleeves and welding are permitted. Commercially produced block means: made by Kohler, Wisconsin, Briggs, Tecumseh. Any other than these then the Hilliard Tractor Club,

Inc must approve. If a copy is being made, engine must meet manufacturer’s spec’s for engine being copied for: crank and cam location, deck height, two valves same side, valve angle (max valve angle is 6 degrees) and factory Kohler head bolt pattern of other than stock.

Original carburetor may be used. Stand off pipe or ram tubes are permitted. Choke may be removed, single carburetor only. Air restricting venturi must be in the middle third of carburetor and must be round and not larger than 1.2000” restriction. Must be a Kohler type carburetor if other than stock for that engine model being used. Recast carburetors may be used but must be patterned after Kohler or Carter Model N Carburetor and meet these spec’s - maximum round throttle plate area outside diameter 1.675” Maximum round choke plate area outside diameter 1.900”, Maximum outside diameter of fuel bowl 2.350” (stock Kohler bowl) Maximum length of main carburetor body 3.500”.

Tires must be no larger than 26x12x12.

All tractors must have a hood and grill

Single cylinder Super Stock is defined as any tractor having a one cylinder, air cooled, four cycle, flat head, 2 valve same side, 50.500 cubic inch engine.

2.

Clutch and open drive train components must be covered 360 degrees with 1/8” steel or 3/16” aluminum.

Tires must be no larger than 26x12x12.

Any type of naturally aspirated induction is permitted.

Tractors must run alcohol with NO ADDITIVES (CLEAR).

ADDITIONAL OPEN CLASS RULES 1150 LB

1.

Open Class is defined as any tractor having a one cylinder, air cooled, four cycle flat head engine with no cubic inch limit or any tractor having TWO one cylinder, air cooled, four cycle flat head engines not to exceed 50.500

2.

cubic inch displacement per engine.

Clutch and drive train components must be covered 360 degrees with 3/16” steel or ¼ “ aluminum and have 1/8” side shields with a maximum center diameter hole of 6”.

Tires are limited to a 15” diameter rim size.

4.

All exposed turbochargers or portions thereof must be shrouded with 1/16” steel, or thicker.

5.

All super charged engines must have a shield on the belt.

6.

Plenum tubes must be attached in a manner that will not let them fall off of tractor.

Nitro (OUTDOOR PULLS ONLY) and/or Nitrous permitted on unblown engines only.

ADDITIONAL STOCK ALTERED RULES 1050 LB

1.

Single cylinder four cycle flathead engines only.

2.

Engines must be Kohler, Wisconsin, Tecumseh or Briggs.

3.

Engines must be factory productions or their OEM replacement.

4.

Maximum crankshaft stroke 3.25”.

5.

Maximum engine bore 3.780”.

Limited to 36.5000 cubic inches.

Maximum engine valve size 1.380 inches.

8.

Maximum engine valve lift .330 inches.

9.

Maximum carburetor venturi size 1.00 inches.

10.

Carburetor must be mounted to the engine with no more than 1-inch spacer.

Foot pegs, platforms and seats must be in stock location.

Tractors must have garden tractor rear-ends. 26.

Frames must maintain factory length.

Top placing tractors will be checked for fuel, bore, stroke, carb size, valve lift and valve size.

30.

All flywheel and clutch assemblies must be covered 360 degrees with 1/8-inch steel or 3/16 inch aluminum.

Rule clarification. Air controlled by butterfly in stock position in carburetor, no slides, no injection, naturally aspirated only. No air entering after 1.000” restriction.
