Up for auction is this PRESS PHOTO of a TROOP TRAIN FIRE in GREENWOOD, INDIANA dated February 9, 1946 and the newspaper photo and article to match it. The Photo is Black and White and measures 8 1/2 inches by 10 inches and shows firefighters at work putting out a train fire. The newspaper photo is glued to the back of the photo with a caption that describes the photo. It states that it is the ruins of a railroad station in Greenwood, IN after an empty troop train struck open switch, left rails and plunged into the station. 3 were injured in this freak accident. The train had just delivered troops to Camp Atterbury. The newspaper photo is dated stamped February 9, 1946 and "Mirror". The photo displays editor marks and lines and artist touch ups. It has some spotting on the front and back but the subject matter is quite clear. The right edge was cut at an angle. The newspaper photo has yellowed with age and is uneven on the left edge. on ebay 03/2014
