Self-Management Strategy: Self-Management Appropriate Grade Level: K-12th Grade Procedures/Steps: 1. Identify target behaviors. These can be academic, nonacademic, or both. The teacher and student discuss these target behaviors. 2. Ratings for behavior are determined. This can be on a scale from 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent). 3. After each class period or day, the student and teacher rate behaviors. The two ratings are compared and graphed. 4. The teacher rating is reduced with the student using self-management to rate himself/herself. Example of Target Behaviors Rating Chart Used By Teacher and Student Ratings from 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent) Target Behavior Nov. 1 Nov. 2 Nov. 3 In Seat On Time 3 4 2 Has all Materials 4 3 4 Walks in the Hallway 3 2 3 Comments and/or tips: Self-Management can be used across academic and nonacademic behavior problems.
