Please read this form carefully, indicate with a tick () the appropriate category and complete page 3. ****************************************************************************** Category 1: New First Year CAO Students I am a first year student who wants to transfer to year 1 of another programme before the third Friday of Semester One. (a) I have attained the Leaving Certificate points for the programme I wish to enter. Please note that transfer is not automatic, it is subject to availability of places and decisions will be advised to the applicant by email. ************************************************************************************* Category 2: Existing first year students who have completed Semester 1 I am a first year student who is applying to transfer within the same Faculty, to a similarly structured first year programme, before the third Friday of Semester Two. Please note that not all Schools/Faculties permit transfers after semester one and you should consult with relevant Programme Chairs before submitting this form. a) I have passed all Semester one assessments / examinations. Category 3: first year students who have completed Year 1 I am a first year student who has successfully completed year 1 of my current programme and is applying to transfer to year 1 of another programme. a) I have passed all Semester one assessments / examinations. It would be advisable to contact the Finance Office to ascertain possible financial liabilities. ************************************************************************************* Category 5: (For information purposes only) I am a first year student who has failed semester 1 and 2 assessments/examinations and I do not wish to stay on my current programme and repeat in August and: (a) I have submitted a Notification of Withdrawal, Form R27, to the Registry In this case you must re-apply through the CAO by 1st May. (b) I have not withdrawn from DCU In this case you must re-apply through the CAO by the late closing date in mid-July. Your CAO application form must be stamped by the Registry before submission to CAO. Please check www.cao.ie for further details. It would be advisable to contact the Finance Office at DCU to ascertain possible financial liabilities in both of these cases. Important Application Information Students who have withdrawn or have been asked to withdraw from DCU may not avail of the internal transfer process. It is the responsibility of the student seeking the transfer to return this completed form to the Admissions Office, The Registry, Dublin City University, Dublin 9 by the dates highlighted above, together with the application fee of €35. Category 2, 3, and 4 applicants should bring this form to be signed by both your current Chair and the Chair of the programme to which you are seeking entry. Please note that approval for an internal transfer is subject to an applicant meeting the criteria indicated in their category, the programme entry requirements, the points cut-off (where applicable), the availability of places on the programme and approval of the programme Chairpersons (where applicable). All decisions will be communicated to applicants by email. Please note that where a programme has gone to Random Selection i.e. where not all applicants on that points level have received an offer, Transfer applicants must achieve the next points bracket to be deemed eligible for transfer. While it is not obligatory, applicants are advised to consult with the Student Advice Centre or the DCU Careers Service to discuss your application to transfer. The finance office should also be consulted to ascertain possible fee liabilities.
