Introduction
I have worked as a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist since 1996. I have worked in this capacity in
both inpatient and community settings. I have led a Community Mental Health Team and General Adult
inpatient services in Salford I have developed a range of services for alcohol dependent individuals
including dual diagnosis services (Substance Misuse and Mental Illness). I have extensive experience in
training junior doctors in psychiatry and extensive teaching experience. I have recently developed my role
as a Medical Manager as lead Consultant to the Alcohol and Drugs directorate.
Current Post
Five sessions a week as Consultant at Chapman Barker Alcohol and Drugs Directorate, Prestwich
Hospital. This includes assessment and treatment of individuals with complex needs / dual diagnosis.
Five sessions a week as Consultant Psychiatrist to the Manchester Alcohol Service offering Psychiatric
Support to workers in Manchester Alcohol Services second opinions to colleagues in general adult
psychiatry. I am based for this aspect of my work at the Brian Hore Unit (Withington Community Hospital).

and audit each others medico legal work. This includes audit of quality assurance of report writing.
Extensive experience in family proceedings multiple instructions from throughout the North West in relation
to family cases
Experience in General Psychiatric Report writing for insurance and court cases. Particular expertise in
writing reports in assessment of parents in child care proceedings. Assessment of post trauma
psychological health problems including PTSD. General mental health and Addiction assessments
