American Association of Japanese University Women SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM The American Association of Japanese University Women (AAJUW) is currently accepting applications for its 2015 scholarships. AAJUW was founded in 1970 to promote the education of women, as well as to contribute to the better U.S.-Japan relations, cultural exchanges, and development of leadership. Every year, since the founding of the organization, scholarships have been awarded to outstanding female students. This year each awardee will receive a $2,000 scholarship. QUALIFICATIONS To qualify, the applicant must: 1. Be a female student enrolled in an accredited California college or university. 2. Be a junior, senior, or graduate standing for the school year 2015 - 2016. 3. Attend, at her own expense, the award ceremony to be held on Sunday, January 24, 2016, in Los Angeles. 4. Demonstrate a desire and intent to fulfill a leadership role in her chosen field of study and to be a contributor to betterment of the U.S.-Japan relations and cultural exchanges. 5. Scholarship Application Form A current resume Official transcript(s) for the past two years of study Two letters of recommendation, addressed to AAJUW Scholarship Committee. One must directly be written by a professor in your major field of study 5. An essay on the topic of what you hope to accomplish in your field of study and how this will contribute to the better U.S. – Japan relations. Give specific examples to clarify your ideas. The maximum length is to be two pages (8 ½ x 11, double-spaced) in English or Japanese. DEADLINE AND SUBMISSION All 5 required documents including the official transcript(s) and two letters of recommendation must be mailed by US Postal Service to the address below and postmarked on or before October 31, 2015.
