Abstract
This dissertation is dealing with IT and learning at the Danish
school Amager Lille Skole (ALS). The superior issue is how to
integrate IT in the teaching of ALS so that the pupils obtain the
most applicable knowledge and experience in the use of IT. This
involves two questions: whether IT should continue to be a
distinct practical/musical lection, to be integrated as a tool in the
schools lections, Danish, mathematics and foreign languages, or
to become a distinct obligatory lection. Furthermore it involves
which teaching method should be applied in the teaching of IT of
the pupils in 7th to 9th grade.
The empery includes an interview with the schoolmaster,
questionnaires involving pupils, teachers and parents and
observations of four chosen IT-lections. Our theoretical starting
point is studies of different pedagogical practises and theory
connected to the methodological reflections.
The dissertation includes ideas to how the future IT-integration
can be realised at Amager Lille Skole. This involves technical
improvements, organizational changes and pedagogical measures
for the schools continuant integration of IT.
On the basis of observations and practical teaching experience
we have tested two methods for the teaching of IT. Thus we have
developed a method, however still not fully developed, that
exploits the strengths from the two mentioned methods. The new
method, called “The Third Way” is ideal in the teaching of an ITprogramme for young people who are used to computers and
Internet.
Our results of this dissertation are the following: a flexible model
covering five possibilities to integrate IT in the teaching that
accommodates the attitudes of our respondents towards IT.
Furthermore we have concluded that the most efficient teaching
method depends on the IT-knowledge of the target group.
