FEES
Effective 2005, the parish fee is $200.00 for a funeral. This includes use of the Church for
liturgy, priest, pastoral administrator, and janitorial services. The fee should be included in the
funeral directors fee and director pays parish.
Music minister fee is $175.00 and the funeral director should make the payment directly to the
music minister or the check can be made out to cash.
We are happy to accommodate any special fee arrangements that the family might desire.
VISITATIONS IN CHURCH
Visitations are allowed in Church. The parish fee will then be $300.00 for a funeral. The casket
is placed in front of the altar steps.
PRIEST TO PRESIDE
Due to our priest’s commitments, he requests your patience if there is a delay in reaching him.
He will try to return your call as soon as possible, but often will not be immediately available.
In the event our priest is on vacation or unavailable, a substitute priest will be provided to preside
at the funeral. The family may also have a priest of their own choice.
SCHEDULING A FUNERAL
Only our priest can schedule a funeral Mass, because the parish secretary may not know his
schedule. Our priest prefers to meet with the family of the deceased to get to know them; to
learn about the deceased; and prepare the funeral liturgy with them.
A funeral without Mass at the funeral home can be scheduled with our pastoral administrator or
our deacon.

TIME OF FUNERALS
We do not accept funerals on Sundays or during the Easter Triduum. In addition to our regular
weekday funeral Masses, our Church is also available Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
evenings.
VIGILS
Our pastoral administrator or deacon will conduct all vigils and services held for our parish
members at the funeral home.
PLANNING THE LITURGY
The following options are available in planning the liturgy with our staff:
1. The next-of-kin can place the baptismal pall on the casket.
2. The family is asked to provide biographical notes on the deceased to the presider.
3. Music may be requested.
4. The family can bring the bread and wine to the altar.
5. Family members may choose and/or read the scriptures in Church.
MUSIC
Our music minister is on staff to prepare the music for all funeral liturgies. If there are any
requests, please forward them to the priest, or directly to the musician for consideration. All
music used for funerals is specifically sacred, Christian material appropriate for liturgical use,
and is primarily chosen from our hymnals. Pre-recorded music (tapes, CDs, etc.) is not used in
Church for liturgical prayer. Communal meditation is also acceptable.
FLOWERS AND/OR MEMORIALS
We gladly accept flowers in Church except during Lent. However, during Lent, the family may
have the flowers for the liturgy and then have them removed. Arrangements can be placed near
the communion rail, but not at the altar.
In lieu of flowers, families might appreciate knowing that memorials to St. Veronica’s are
needed and appreciated. We have a variety of needs for memorials, e.g., endowment funds,
liturgical items, etc. The parish office can provide details.
NON-MEMBERS
We try to accept the funerals of non-members if they have some connection to St. Veronica and
if a priest is available. If the deceased appears to have been a non-practicing Catholic or the
family is unchurched, a service at the funeral home is preferred. Our pastoral administrator or
deacon is available to preside at funeral home services.
