ASSEMBLY OF REGIONAL ORGANIZATIONS OF CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRY 2007 AACAP/Assembly Advocacy and Collaboration Grants Guidelines and Application The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is offering twelve grants in the amount of $4,000 to regional organizations of the AACAP Assembly. These grants are intended to fund advocacy activities designed to improve care for the mental health needs of children, adolescents, and families within a specific community, city or state. A requirement of the grant is that it involves collaborative activities between AACAP regional organizations and allied organizations within their communities. Examples of such organizations include but are not limited to a local chapter of the National Alliance for the Mental Illness, a chapter of the Mental Health America, or the Federation for Families. Activities that involve collaboration with allied professional organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics or the American Academy of Family Physicians will also be considered. Please note that these grants are not intended to fund formal CME activities or dinner meetings. Preference in funding will be given towards programs that create innovative solutions that advance the mission of the AACAP in collaboration with other established organizations. While it is possible to use these funds to address policy or legislative issues they cannot be used for lobbying or support of a political candidate. Complete applications will be reviewed and judged on how they best fulfill the guidelines for the grant. Once selected, grantees will receive $3,000. The remaining $1,000 will be distributed when the mandatory follow-up form is received. The application deadline is May 31, 2007. The application procedure for a grant is as follows: 1. Complete the application for the proposed event. 2. Attach to the application a timeline for completion and a preliminary budget (meals not included). 3. Attach a letter of support from an officer of each of the collaborating organizations. 4. By December 1, 2007, you must submit the Follow-Up Form for your event in order to receive the remainder of the grant. Failure to provide this will prohibit your regional organization’s participation in future Assembly grants.
