Northern Lithuania Research Centre, which carries out interdisciplinary research into the
history, culture and heritage of Northern Lithuania, on 26th–27th March, 2015, organises an
international interdisciplinary scientific conference The Region: History, Culture, Language.
Researchers of different spheres are invited to participate and to discuss the subject from
various aspects.
Suggested topics:











Region research methodologies and methods.
Regions in historical research.
Cultural and communication memory in the region.
Regional policy.
Region as a periphery.
Religious life in the region.
Regions in cultural research.
Regional identity, mentality and self-awareness.
Linguistic understanding of the region, territorial and social dialects, language specifics.
Regional literature and regional authors.
Region and philosophy.
 Lithuania as an ethnic, cultural, and administrative region. Ethnographic regions of
Lithuania.
Conference languages: Lithuanian, English, Russian.
Conference fee: Eur 20 (payable upon registration).
Registration forms with the summary of the presentation (200-300 words) should be submitted by
23rd February 2015 at the following address: su.siaures.lietuva@gmail.com
Authors are going to be informed about inclusion of their papers into the conference programme by
12th March.
Peer reviewed and approved papers based on the conference presentations are going to be published
in the research works periodical Acta humanitarica universitatis Saulensis, reviewed in the
international data bases “Index Copernicus” and ”MLA International Bibliography”.
