Following the questioning of Trainer Jacques Strydom and Jockey G Venter regarding the running and riding of CRIMSON RADO in this race, the Stipendiary Board referred back to the Patrol Video’s of this filly’s previous races. As a result of this investigation an Inquiry was opened on the 1st June 2004 into the Running and Riding of CRIMSON RADO. 11 The Inquiry Board heard evidence to the effect that CRIMSON RADO is a small, fractious and temperamental filly with a soft mouth. She has a history of being unruly at exercise in the mornings and in parading before going to the start. She has a tendency to duck away from the whip and performs better without the use of it. Due to these traits, Jockey Venter had to adapt his riding tactics and style to suit this filly which were distinctly different from his normal riding style. The Inquiry Board giving due consideration to all the evidence heard decided to give Trainer Jacques Strydom and Jockey G Venter the benefit of the doubt and took no further action. However both trainer and rider were advised that should it be necessary to change the riding tactics or riding style in future this must be advised to the Stipendiary Board prior to the horse racing in order for this information to be disseminated. 12
