Preface I of Advent
The two comings of Christ
The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just.
It is truly right and just {fair},
our duty {must} and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God.
Jesus’ acceptance of humble birth
fulfilled {followed} your plan long ago.
He opened for us the way to eternal salvation.
When Christ comes again in glory
everything will be revealed.
We wait for the day with hope and look forward to receive his
promise.
With all the Angels
[and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominions, and with all the hosts and Powers]
{many different angels}
in heaven,
we sign your glory,
and never cease (stop) to acclaim:
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts {many}…

The twofold expectation of Christ
The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just.
It is truly right and just {fair},
our duty {must} and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God.
Long ago the prophets said things about Jesus,
and the Virgin Mary waited full of love.
John the Baptist pointed to Jesus’ coming
and revealed Jesus’ presence.
The gift of Jesus leads us to rejoice
at the mystery of his birth.
Let us be ready in prayer to join in his praise.
With all the Angels
[and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominions, and with all the hosts and Powers]
{many different angels}
in heaven,
we sign your glory,

Christ the Light
The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just.
It is truly right and just {fair},
our duty {must} and our salvation,

Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God.
The mystery of the Word became man,
shines a new light of your glory
and our minds begin to understand
and we recognise in Jesus God become visible,
as we are enfolded in the love of things invisible.

in heaven,
we sign your glory,
and never cease (stop) to acclaim:
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts {many}...

The restoration of all things in the Incarnation
The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just.
It is truly right and just {fair},
our duty {must} and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,
through Christ our Lord.
This feast, full of mystery,
God divine and invisible,
has now appeared visibly in our world;
begotten before all ages,
Jesus is born in our world today;
Jesus raised up all those cast down {condemned}
and called them back to the heavenly kingdom,
reunited all creation.
And so, with all the Angels, we praise you,
as in joyful celebration we acclaim:
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts {many}...

The exchange in the Incarnation of the Word
The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just.
It is truly right and just {fair},
our duty [must} and our salvation,
always everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,
through Christ our Lord.
Through Jesus becoming man
he restores {made new} our life with splendour {shining}.
Because Jesus accepted our humanity
we receive honour and eternal life.
And so, in company with the choirs of Angels,
we praise you, and with joy we proclaim:
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts {many}...
Epiphany
The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just.
It is truly right and just {fair},
our duty {must} and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God.
Today, through Christ, as a light for all people to see.
You showed the mystery of our salvation,
and as Jesus appeared in flesh
you made us new by the glory of his everlasting being.
