The mother and father were making low income and the children started hearing voices in the house stating that it needs money. So the son Paul begins to gamble by betting on horse races. Soon Paul begins to win a little bit of money and he sends his mother a postcard stating that she will get thousand pounds on her birthday for five years. As soon as she gets it she wants the five thousand pounds paid in full in which she spends to buy things for the house making the voices more chaotic.
