RULES AND REGULATIONS
1.
Haverhill Farms/Hunters Run will not be responsible in any way for loss or
damage to any person, animal, property or equipment. Each exhibitor shall
assume all liability and hold harmless Haverhill Farms and Hunters Run for
any loss, damage or injury to any person, animal or equipment that may be
caused by any horse or pony entered by them or due to carelessness or
negligence of the persons in charge of such horse/pony or any of their
subordinates or superiors.
2.
All entry forms must be signed and accompanied by remittance for all fees.
Make checks payable to Haverhill Farms. STALL FEES ARE NOT
REFUNDABLE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. A processing fee of
$35.00, plus collection fees, will be made for any non-negotiable checks.
3.
Horses entered may be scratched by written notice, presented or mailed to the
horse show. No veterinarian’s certificate is required. This written notice must
be in the possession of the show secretary one hour prior to the class or classes
involved. When valid notice of a scratch is received, the entry fee will be
refunded or credited to the entry. Once the class or classes have been started,
horses, which are not shown, will forfeit their fees, except if a horse becomes
ill or injured prior to the class or classes in which they are entered. In this case,
a scratch sheet must be received by the secretary for a refund.
EXHIBITORS – PLEASE DO YOUR OWN PAPERWORK.
4.
Stall fees are $70.00 per stall. Reservations are accepted on a “first pay, first
serve basis”. Stalls will not be reserved without a check. Please call early;
all stall reservations must be made no later than one week before the show.
Stabling consists of 10x10 stalls with stall gates. Stalls will be available on
Schooling Day at 9:00 am. If you wish to arrive early, you must make
arrangements with management. When making stall reservations, please indicate
if shavings are needed and indicate amount, additional fees will be applied per bag.
5.
ENTRIES CLOSE ONE WEEK PRIOR TO SHOW. AFTER THOSE
DATES, THERE WILL BE A LUMP SUM $25.00 POST ENTRY FEE
APPLIED TO YOUR ACCOUNT. There is also a $5.00 “RODE NOT
ENTERED” (RNE) fee applied for riders who add a class without filling out a
add slip with the secretary. (You cannot add a class with the starter)
6.
The horse show office will be open one hour before the start of each show day
and will open at 10:00 am on Schooling Day.
7.
Entry fees are $18.00 per class except for the MHJA Medal Classes which are
$20.00 per Medal class. All prize money will be deducted from entry fees.
Prize money exceeding the amount owed on the entry will be paid through the
show office within 30 days following the horse show.

8.
EMT Fee is $6.00 per horse/rider combination.
9.
Camper Fee is $75.00 (Pay Hunters Run Directly)
10.
There will be a $35.00 per horse, per day, grounds fee for horses showing or
schooling out of trailers.
11.
Non-Showing horses will be charged a $40.00 fee in addition to the stall fee
12.
No “hors Concurs” in any classes are allowed.
13.
Horses will be allowed in the show rings only during specified hours.
14.
Management reserves the right to combine, divide or cancel classes if entries
warrant or to refuse any entry.
15.
Protective Headgear: All riders must wear an ASTM/SEI approved riding helmet
while mounted anywhere on the show grounds. All Riders must wear protective
riding helmets when jumping anywhere on the show grounds (professionals
included). Haverhill Farms, Hunters Run and the MHJA make no representation
or warranty, expressed or implied, about any protective headgear, and cautions
riders that serious injury may result despite wearing protective headgear as all
equestrian sports involve an intrinsic element of risk.
16.
No smoking laws will be enforced. Smoking is not allowed in any stabling area
including the indoor ring.
17.
Dogs must be kept on a leash or in your tack room at all times while on the show
grounds.
18.
In some classes, the “Courtesy Circle” area may be restricted by a mandatory
line. This will be indicated on the course diagram and physically in the ring.
19.
“Orders of Go” will be posted in all Medal classes.

CLASS SPECIFICATIONS:
Pony Divisions: All pony divisions are open to Junior Riders and must be ridden by Junior Riders. No
rider over 13 years of age may compete on a small pony and no rider over 14 years of age may compete on
a medium pony. Ponies must have a current measurement card in order to compete in a pony class.
Measurement Size Chart for Ponies:
Small Ponies – 12.2 and under / fence height: 2’0”
Medium Ponies – Not to Exceed 13.2 / fence height: 2’3”
Large Ponies – Not to Exceed 14.2 / fence height: 2’9”
A minimum of 3 competitors in either a Hunter division or Equitation division must be judged for points to
be awarded, points are awarded according to the number of entries judged in the first O/F class in that
division, even if there are less entries in the division for the remaining days.
Short Stirrup Pony: Open to Junior Riders, 11 years and under. These riders may not have won 9
blue ribbons in recognized hunter classes at MHJA, MHSA or USEF shows prior to October 1st of the
preceding year, but do retain their Short Stirrup status for the show year. Riders having won in the
Short Stirrup Division do not lose their Maiden or Novice status. In addition, this division is not open
to any riders who have shown in any open hunter or equitation divisions at MHJA and USEF Pony or
Regular Member shows. Open divisions include: MHJA & USEF: Pony Medals, small, medium, and
large pony hunter divisions, pony equitation, 12 & under or 13 – 17 years, junior hunters, junior
equitation 14 & under or 15-17 years, MHJA Open Junior Medal and USEF Medals. Riders MAY
NOT cross enter into the Children’s Pony Hunter or Children’s Pony Equitation divisions.
Fence Heights: Small/Medium – 18” Large 2’
Novice Pony Hunter: Open to Junior riders mounted on ponies. These riders may not have won
3 blue ribbons in Hunter classes at any MHJA Pony or Regular member shows. This division is
not open to any riders who have shown in any open hunter or open equitation divisions at MHJA
and USEF Pony or Regular Member shows (open divisions include: MHJA & USEF: Pony Medals,
small, medium or Large Pony Hunter Divisions, pony Equitation 12 & under or 13-17 years, Junior
Hunters, Junior Equitation 14 & under or 15-17 years, MHJA Open Junior Medal & USEF Medals).
Riders having won in the Novice Pony Hunter Division do not lose their Children’s Pony Hunter
status. Fence Height 2’ for all No In-and-Outs and No Oxers
Children’s Pony Hunter: Open to junior rider’s, mounted on ponies, who have not
won 15 points in recognized hunter classes at USEF shows. Winning 15 USEF points will
make a rider immediately ineligible for this division. Ribbons won in Short Stirrup or Novice
Pony Hunter divisions does not affect a rider’s eligibility for this division. Riders may cross
enter into the MHJA Open Pony Hunter Division during the current show year, however, the
rider then becomes ineligible to compete in the MHJA Children’s Pony Hunter Division the
following show year. Fence Heights small 2’ medium 2’3” and large 2’6” No In-and-Outs
Pony Equitation 12 years and under: Open to Junior riders 12 & under, mounted on ponies.
Fence Heights: small 2’ medium 2’3” and large 2’9”
Tests 1-9 (USEF EQ 113) over fences; 1-5, 8, 9 (USEF EQ 113) on the flat (Rule XII)
Pony Equitation 13 – 17 years: Open to Junior riders 13 – 17, mounted on ponies.
Fence heights: medium 2’3” and large 2’9”
Tests 1-9 (USEF EQ 113) over fences 1-5, 8, 9 (USEF EQ 113) on the flat (Rule XII)
Short Stirrup Equitation: Open to riders, 11 years and under, who have not won three blue
ribbons over fences in equitation classes at MHJA, MHSA or USEF shows prior to October 1 st
of the preceding year, but riders do retain their Short Stirrup status for the show year. In addition,
this division is not open to any riders who have shown in any Open Hunter or Equitation divisions
at MHJA and USEF Pony or Regular Member shows. Open divisions include: MHJA & USEF:
Pony Medals, small, medium or large pony hunter divisions, pony equitation 12 & under or 13–17
years, junior hunters, junior equitation 14 & under or 15-17 years, MHJA Open Junior Medal &
USEF Medals. Short Stirrup riders CANNOT cross enter into the Children’s Pony Equitation or
Children’s Pony Hunter divisions. Fence heights: small/medium 18” and large 2’
Crosspole Hunter & Equitation: Open to riders in their first year of showing, mounted on either
a horse or pony. May cross enter into the Long-Stirrup division and ponies may cross enter into the
Short Stirrup division. Fence height: crosspole
Novice Pony Equitation: Open to Junior riders, mounted on ponies. One rider per pony. Riders
may not have won three blue ribbons over fences in equitation classes at MHJA Pony or Regular
Member shows. Ribbons won in Short Stirrup or Novice Pony Equitation divisions do not affect
a rider’s eligibility for this division. In addition, riders may not have won 15 points in recognized
equitation classes at USEF shows. Winning 15 points will make a rider immediately ineligible for
this division. Riders MAY NOT cross enter into the open equitation division.
Fence height 2’ for all and No In-and-Outs, No Oxers, No Tests
Children’s Pony Equitation: Open to Junior riders, mounted on ponies. Riders may not have won
six blue ribbons over fences in equitation classes at MHJA Pony or Regular Member shows.
Ribbons won in Short Stirrup or Novice Pony Equitation divisions does not affect a rider’s
eligibility for this division. In addition, riders may not have won 15 points in recognized equitation
classes at USEF shows. Winning 15 points will make a rider immediately ineligible for this
division. Fence heights: small/medium 2’ and large 2’6”
“C” Circuit Division
GENERAL: No professional may ride in any recognized C-Circuit class. No exhibitor may
participate in a C-Circuit Show if they have jumped in any classes that require the rider to jump
higher than 3’. A minimum of 3 competitors in either a Hunter division or Equitation division
must be judged for points to be awarded, points are awarded according to the number of entries
judged in the first O/F class in that division, even if there are less entries in the division for the
remaining days.
“C” Circuit Hunter Divisions: Courses will simulate fences found in the hunting field such as:
brush wall, in-and-out, oxer, post and rails, aiken and panels. To be judged on performance and
soundness, manners and way of going. Extreme speed will be penalized. All under saddle classes
to be shown at a walk, trot and canter both ways in the ring. Light contact with the horse’s mouth
is required. Horses should be obedient, alert, responsive and move freely. They should not be
eliminated for slight errors and martingales are not permitted in under saddle classes.
Championships and Reserve Championships in each section will be awarded convenient to the last
class in each section according to MHJA Rules.
Very Green Hunter: Open to horses in their first year of showing at a recognized show.
Horses may compete in under saddle classes and equitation on the flat classes without affecting
their Green Status. Fence Height 2’3” to 2’6”
Beginner Adult Hunter: Open to Adult riders who have not won three blue ribbons in a
recognized hunter classes over fences at MHJA, MHSA or USEF shows prior to October 1st
of the preceding year, but do retain their Beginner status for the show year. This division is not
open to any rider’s who have shown in any Open Hunter or Equitation divisions at MHJA, MHSA
or USEF Pony or Regular Member shows. Rider’s having won in the Beginner division will not
lose their Novice or Primary status. Riders may NOT cross enter into classes that require jumping
2’6” or higher. (class may be combined with the Beginner Junior division if warranted).
½ point will be awarded if less than 3 competitors. Fence height: 2’ (No Oxers / No In & Outs)
Beginner Junior Hunter: Open to Junior riders who have not won three blue ribbons in a

MHJA MEDAL CLASSES
NOTES:
MHJA Intermediate Adult: Open to current MHJA Adult Members in good standing who have
not won 9 blue ribbons in any equitation classes over fences. Competing in any classes 3’ or
higher will make a rider immediately ineligible to compete in this division. The top 15 point
accumulators in this class during the season will qualify to compete in the Medal Finals. To qualify
for the Ribbons won in equitation on the flat classes does not affect a rider’s eligibility in Intermediate
medal classes, however ribbons won in Intermediate Medal classes do affect a rider’s eligibility in the
Equitation on the flat classes. ½ points will be awarded if less than 3 competitors. Cannot be
combined with the Intermediate Junior medal.
Fence Height – 2’6” Test 1-8 MHJA Rule XII
MHJA Intermediate Junior: Open to current MHJA Junior Members in good standing who have
not won 9 blue ribbons in any equitation classes over fences. Competing in any classes 3’ or
higher will make a rider immediately ineligible to compete in this division. To qualify for the
final medal ride-off a rider must win one blue or red ribbon in a qualifying class. Riders
winning one red ribbon may continue to compete in the qualifying classes until they win a blue
ribbon. Ribbons won in equitation on the flat classes does not affect a rider’s eligibility in
Intermediate medal classes, however ribbons won in Intermediate Medal classes do affect a
rider’s eligibility in the Equitation on the flat classes. Must have 4 competitors to offer
class. Cannot be combined with the Intermediate Adult Medal.
Fence Height – 2’6” Test 1-8 MHJA Rule XII
MHJA Pony Medal: Open to current MHJA Junior members, mounted on ponies, one rider per
pony. The fence heights shall be 2’ for small ponies, 2’3” for medium ponies and 2’9” for large
ponies. To fill the class, four competitors must complete the course. To qualify for the final medal
ride-off a competitor must win one blue or one red ribbon. Riders qualifying by winning one red
may still continue to compete. Tests 1-19 (USEF EQ 113) MHJA Rule XII
Pony Mini Medal: Open to current MHJA Junior riders mounted on ponies, one rider per pony.
Riders may not have won three blue ribbons in equitation classes at any MHJA Pony or Regular
member show. In addition, riders may not have won 15 points in recognized equitation classes at any
USEF shows. Winning 15 points will make a rider ineligible for this class. It is NOT open to riders
who have competed in MHJA Small, Medium or Large Pony Hunter classes, Pony Equitation 11 &
under, Pony Equitation 12 – 17, or Pony Medal. Riders MAY NOT cross enter into any of those
divisions. Ribbons won in short stirrup or novice pony equitation divisions DO NOT affect a rider’s
eligibility in this class. The fence height is 2’0” for all ponies, there is no In and Outs or Oxers.
Top 4 riders will be tested. Tests 1-8

Adult/Junior Mini Medal: Open to Junior/Adult riders who have not won 3 blue ribbons in a
recognized Equitation class at MHJA, MHSA, or USEF shows prior to October 1, of the preceding
year. Riders may not have shown in any Open Hunter or Equitation divisions at MHJA, MHSA, or
USEF Pony or Regular Member shows. Riders MAY NOT cross enter into any divisions that require
jumping 2’6” or higher. Jumping 2’6” or higher will make a rider immediately ineligible for this
division. Fence Height: 2’0” Test 1-6, (No Oxers/ In& Outs) Will not be combined with any other
medal classes.
