New Albert Paley entrance portal to be installed at Morrill Hall
Ames, IA – University Museums at Iowa State University announces the installation of a
new public work of art on central campus, the latest addition to the University’s Art on
Campus Collection. Renowned American artist, Albert Paley’s installation team will be
coming to Ames the week of August 13, 2007 to install his newest sculpture,
Transformation. Transformation is a commission by University Museums for the exterior
east entrance of Morrill Hall.
“Paley’s sculpture, Transformation, is a contemporary portal of exquisite beauty,
fabricated from the forges of perfection.
Paley’s distinct sculpture represents the
intrinsic response to beauty and art for an ever evolving academic campus community
where the act of passage is a daily ritual.” Lynette Pohlman, director, University
Museums, Iowa State University.
Paley’s team will work during this week to install the new work of art, while also bringing
a majority of the works of art that will be included in the exhibition, Albert Paley: Portals
and Gates. The works or art will be on display August 20, 2007 – January 15, 2008 at
the Christian Petersen Art Museum, Brunnier Art Museum and at Hometown Perry,
Iowa. Look for Paley’ team mid-August for this exciting installation and new addition to
