PREVIOUSLY INNOVIS BREEDING SERVICES Full Time & Seasonal Animal Breeding Technicians (Malvern) AB Europe is seeking a versatile individual with practical experience/understanding of sheep farming to support the delivery of our artificial sheep breeding activities. Based from our Malvern centre, the role will involve substantial travel throughout the UK during the sheep breeding season (August – November with possible extension) The successful candidate will be responsible for: Providing technical support for on centre and on farm AI activites as and when required. Ensuring that all administration associated with commercial service delivery is maintained accurately including animal records. When on centre supporting the day to day activities to ensure the smooth operation of the ram stud, collection facility, laboratories and semen store including techncial support for on centre ram semen collection, processing and freezing; operation of the semen freezing laboratory & semen freezing equipment; maintenance of semen storage facilities. Ensuring that all client animals under AB Europe’s care are maintained to the highest health and husbandry standards and that all protocols and procedures are implemented to ensure high quality service delivery. Liaison with staff at other AB Europe centres whenever necessary. Maintain good client and industry relationships in order to consolidate existing business and help to secure new client relationships. Qualifications, skills and experience We place a strong emphasis on the development of practices which will enhance both the quality and efficiency of our systems and the service that we give our customers. The ideal candidate will be well-organized, have good attention to detail, practical experience of sheep farming / sheep breeding / sheep handling. Working as part of a small team you will have good interpersonal skills but be capable of working alone. A qualification in agriculture and/or animal science is not essential but may be helpful. Travel The post will be based in Malvern but will involve travel throughout the UK and Ireland. Hours of work The seasonal position involves extensive travel and therefore additional hours are required throughout the working week. This full time position is based on 36.5hours/week. However, the highly seasonal nature of this work means that additional hours will be required during the breeding season for which time off is given in lieu during the off-season. The post may therefore suit an individual who wishes to combine a full time role with other work / travelling etc outside of the peak season. Remuneration Our remuneration package will depend on skills and experience and varies on the full time/seasonal position applied for. Other Candidates will also have a full driving licence.
