Its functions include management and presentation to the public of over 300 monuments in its own care, and also helping other owners to preserve and maintain their properties. Approximately 70 sites are staffed and charge for admission. 1. ELIGIBILITY TO STUDY IN THE UK & IMMIGRATION CONTROL Please note that to be eligible to undertake the Skills for the Future bursary placement you must be a UK citizen or other European Economic Area National, a Commonwealth citizen, a British Protected Person or a citizen of British Overseas Territories. Entry to the UK is controlled under the Immigration Act 1971. Anyone who does not have the right of abode is subject to immigration control. You should check whether there are any restrictions on your stay or your freedom to take or change employment/studies before applying for this post. Applicants who are not eligible to study in the UK or who are subject to immigration control are not able to undertake this placement. 2. SELECTION Applicants who, from the information provided in their CV, appear best suited to this appointment will be invited to a competency based interview. Successful candidates will initially be offered the bursary placement subject to receiving satisfactory references. 3. ANNUAL LEAVE Holiday entitlement is 25 days plus up to 11 days public holidays. 6. Bursary Payments The stipend for this post will be £14,500 per annum paid in the form of a grant. Under current regulations the grant is considered an educational bursary and is therefore non taxable. Bursary holders must pay their own NI contributions and the grant includes an amount to cover this. This grant is paid monthly from Historic Scotland direct to the bursary holder. 7. PROBATION Successful candidates will serve a 1 month probationary period. During the 1 month period the bursary placement may be terminated by Historic Environment Scotland or the Bursary Holder. Confirmation of the appointment will be dependent on the successful completion of this probationary period. 8.
