Message from the Admin Team:
Once again, we are off to a great start at KDSS with the 2014-2015
school year moving along very quickly. There have already been a
variety of successful activities, field trips, and sports teams with
impressive results. We are always very proud of our students at KDSS
and their commitment to their studies and to co-curricular activities.
We thank our staff for their dedication to these activities and their
care for KDSS students. Way to go Knights! Commencement was held
on October 10th. We wish our graduates a happy and successful
future. We are already at mid-semester, and we hope that midterm
reports serve to help our students focus their work towards greater
achievement. If students find they need assistance, they are reminded
to ask their teachers for extra help, or see a Guidance teacher or
Student Success teacher.

Attendance:
Attendance is essential to success in school. If a student will be
absent/late, a phone call to the attendance line or a note is required
(519-396-9151 – selection 1). We ask for your support in
encouraging regular attendance through booking appointments after
school when possible, and encouraging students to balance cocurricular interests with the need to be in class.
If a family or student plans on taking holidays during the school year,
please contact administration in advance. Please be aware that the
student is responsible for arranging to get the work, and for getting
caught up with the missed work during the absence.
We ask that families and students please avoid booking holidays
during exam days (see below).
Textbooks and Library Books:
Please have a good look around the house for any KDSS textbooks
and/or library books that may not have been returned. Each year we
have books that go missing and we would like them returned, as they
are valuable for other students. Any KDSS books can be dropped off
at the main office.
Parking and Wheelchair Accessibility:
Please note that we have wheelchair accessibility/automatic doors
both at the front and back of the school. At the front of the school,
there is a designated parking spot by the front entrance. There are
visitor parking spots along the west side by the front entrance, and a
designated student drop off spot as well. Please avoid
Yearbook News:
Families who would like to order the 2014-15 KDSS Yearbook can do
so, online, until the end of December. The link for purchasing the
yearbook is on the KDSS website. The cost is $40 and only students
who pre-order will receive a yearbook. After December 31, the cost of
the yearbook is $45. The link to order is:

Community Involvement Hours & Booklets:
Students are reminded of their Community Involvement hours. Each
student must participate in 40 hours, which must be documented and
signed by a supervisor. Each student has a booklet in which to
document their hours. Students will not graduate without submitting
their signed hours (in addition to 30 credits achieved, and successful
completion of the Literacy Test).
