Luca Malcovati, MD Assistant Professor of Hematology, University of Pavia Medical School, Fondazione IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo, 27100 Pavia, Italy E-mail: luca.malcovati@unipv.it Luca Malcovati obtained his Medical Degree with honours at the University of Pavia Medical School, Pavia, Italy in 1996. From 1996 to 2000 he completed his training in Hematology at the Department of Hematology, University of Pavia Medical School & S. Matteo University Hospital, Pavia, Italy. From 2001 to 2006 he was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship at the same institution. Since 2006 he hold the position of Assistant Professor of Hematology at the Department of Hematology, University of Pavia Medical School, Fondazione IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo, Pavia, Italy. His primary area of clinical and research interest are myeloid neoplasms, in particular myelodysplastic syndromes and myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasms, where he has been carrying out biological studies on genomic analysis and gene expression profiling of hematopoietic stem cell, and clinical investigations on prognosis, life expectancy and decision analysis. He is Deputy Editor of Haematologica - the Hematology Journal, Official Journal of the European Hematology Association (EHA). He is member of the Advisory Board of the European MDS Registry, of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Clinical Oncology, of the Scientific Program Committee for the Annual Meeting of the EHA, Member of the Steering Committee of the Italian Society of Experimental Hematology.
