Position Description Job Title: Reporting To: Location: Centre of Excellence and Junior National Teams Coordinator Men’s and Women’s National Program Managers Basketball Australia’s Centre of Excellence – AIS, Canberra An exciting and challenging role exists within the Basketball Australia High Performance unit at the BA Centre of Excellence (CoE), based at the Australian Institute of Sport campus in Canberra. The role, Centre of Excellence and Junior National Teams Coordinator will be responsible for the day to day operation of the BA CoE and the logistical support of the Australian Junior National Teams, including Paralympic teams. Reporting to the men’s and women’s national team program managers, this role will suit someone who has impeccable attention to detail and can manage to operate in the high performance sports environment and withstand the pressures and time commitments that accompany that workplace. You will be working alongside a small team of dedicated coaches and program managers whose sole focus is to look after and develop athletes to the highest standards. This role will be multi-faceted and will cover areas such as booking national team training camps, organising SEABL competition requirements, logistical details including organising both air and ground travel for athletes, organising volunteers, and coordinating medical appointments for athletes to name but a few. The role may suit a recent graduate looking to break into sports management at the high performance level, or a more mature candidate looking to put their organisational skills to use in a new field of endeavour. 1. Position Objectives 1.1 Successfully administer the daily operations of the Basketball Australia National Junior team programs and events 1.2 Manage all operational aspects of the Centre of Excellence residential program and the Australian development camp 1.3 Support national team senior programs as required 1.4 Provide administrative support as required to high performance staff 2. Specific Responsibilities 2.1 In collaboration with Men’s and Women’s National Program Managers and respective junior program head coaches and team managers, coordinate and administer the operational delivery of national junior team programs, including; camps, competitions, logistics, volunteers, uniforms, and medical services within budget. 2.2 Lead the communication between program staff and athletes and parents for all national junior team programs and Australian Development camps. Job Description – Centre of Excellence and Junior National Teams Coordinator 2.3 Manage all operational requirements for the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence (BA CoE) including all residential booking requirements, administration of athlete scholarship paperwork & coordination of all athlete transport. 2.4 Manage all operational requirements related to the Men’s and Women’s BA CoE teams’ participation in the SEABL. 2.5 Lead the compliance with all FIBA regulations for player, coach and staff registration for FIBA junior events. 2.6 Coordinate all national junior team program enquiries and manage internal and external communication with all stakeholders 2.7 Work at the direction of the Men’s and Women’s National Program Managers to support national senior team outcomes when reasonably requested. 2.8 Other duties as reasonably requested. 3. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 3.1 You need to demonstrate Project Management experience suitable to arranging meetings or small events; or have Project Management theory and how you would practically apply it in this setting. 3.2 Computer literacy is essential including MS Office suite along with an aptitude in learning other specific industry or commercial software. 3.3 You need to know the principles of sport development (coaches, players and officials) and how to apply them in a practical setting. 3.4 Knowledge of basketball is advantageous. 3.5 Personal Attributes • You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to relate to a wide range of people from different age and cultural backgrounds. • You must be capable of working within a small team or independently. • Being proactive with the ability to solve problems with an eye for detail; work under pressure and meet deadlines is necessary to succeed in this role. You must be reliable, have a good work ethic and be able to keep progressing things even when it's still ambiguous. 4. Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in Sports Administration/Management/Education or relevant experience in Sports Administration 5.
