(Fellowship) Provide direct personal ministry, resources, and group ministries that encourage the personal spiritual development of these individuals. (Discipleship) Facilitate and foster their sense of belonging to the body of Fort William Baptist Church and to afford them opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the ministry and mission of the church. (Community) Reach out to those in this age range who have not yet come to prize God supremely in Christ and to facilitate opportunities for the group to meaningfully minister to those yet without Christ in this community(particularly in high schools, college and university.) (Evangelism) Provide opportunities for student age Christians to make a global impact for Jesus’ sake through prayer, partnership, or direct involvement in global ministries and mission. (Mission) Direct and support lay people in youth ministry. Must meet the biblical qualifications of an elder. Must agree with the Elder’s Statement of Faith at Fort William Baptist Church and embrace the Doctrines of Grace. Must have a proven record of faithful, unifying, and gracious commitment to the body of Christ in local church ministry. Position Description Ministry Responsibilities: Oversight: To help establish new and innovative programs and opportunities for meeting practical and spiritual needs of high school, college and career groups Pastoral Care: Provide guidance, support and daily encouragement to group leaders and individuals as needs arise Preaching/Teaching: Participate in the teaching ministry of the Church Ability to participate in the preaching ministry is preferred Leadership Development: Liaise with F.W.B.C.’s program and activity leaders and especially to develop leadership in young adults To ensure a strong close-knit team establishing welcoming, safe, Christ-exalting ministries for the Church and the wider community Accountability: This person will work under the direction of the Senior Pastor and be accountable to the Board of Elders, under the ultimate authority of the Word of God. Requirements Qualifications: Abilities/Gifts: Wisdom and skill in working with families (youth and their parents), and applying Biblical truth in that context An ability to work well in a shared leadership environment An obvious love for and ability to relate with a diversity of people A skill and effectiveness in handling and communicating Scriptures Gifts as a pastor, a teacher and a counselor An aptitude in general and personal/pastoral administration Strong leadership skills leading to the raising up of future leaders within young adults and youth under your direction Experience: Experience in youth and young adult ministry mandatory Experience and demonstrated effectiveness in counseling families and individuals from God’s Word is essential Experience with working in an elder-led church is preferred but not mandatory Pastoral experience is preferred but not mandatory Education: Formal Biblical or seminary education is strongly preferred Lifestyle: Models in his life and family solid Biblical, Christian character and values Salary Commensurate with education and experience.
