FOOD WEBS
In this project you will be creating a FOOD WEB using A3 paper and pictures or
drawings of all the organisms that make up your food web.
Your food web will contain at least 10 SPECIMENS. The specimens need to be found
in the same ECOSYSTEM for example; Sun  Plants  Bugs  Polar Bears  Sharks
DO NOT belong in the same Ecosystem. You need to have an ENERGY SOURCE,
PRODUCERS, 1ST ORDER CONSUMERS, 2ND ORDER CONSUMERS, 3RD
ORDER CONSUMERS AND DECOMPOSERS.
Your 10 Specimens are to be decided up in the following manner:
Energy Source:
This will not count as one of your specimens.
Producers:
A minimum of 2 must be included.
1st order consumers:
A minimum of 3 must be included.
2nd order consumers:
A minimum of 3 must be included.

Decomposers:
A minimum of 1 must be included.

You will also need to hand up a 300 word essay on what you think will happen to your
ecosystem if one of the specimens should suddenly become extinct (Teachers choice of
Specimen). You will need to include information about what will happen to the other
specimen (1st 2nd and 3rd order consumers) and how the food web will change.
YOU WILL BE MARKED AS FOLLOWS:
Identification of Specimen- 10 Specimens of your choice which are appropriate
to your Ecosystem.
Energy Transfer Labels- Your specific food web, including direction arrows.
Producer, Consumer, Decomposer Table- Filled out with correct positioning.
300 Word Essay- Paragraphs
Reference List- Minimum of 5 references including full URL and Date. NO
Wikipedia links.
