Republic of Latvia Cabinet Regulation No 111 Adopted 2 March 2004 Procedures for Compensation of Losses Caused by Natural or Legal Persons Violating the Requirements Specified in Regulatory Enactments Regulating Hunting, Determining the Amount thereof, as well as the Procedures and Amount of Compensation for the Value of Illegally Acquired Hunting Products Issued pursuant to Section 30 of the Hunting Law 1. These Regulations prescribe the procedures by which losses caused by natural or legal persons violating the requirements specified in the Hunting Law or other regulatory enactments regulating hunting shall be compensated, determining the amount thereof, as well as the procedures and the amount of compensation for the value of illegally acquired hunting products. 2. Losses caused through the illegal hunting of game animals (irrespective of the gender and age of the game animals) or through destroying a burrow, den or nest of game animals shall be compensated for to the State. 3. For illegal hunting down of an elk, red deer, wild boar, roe deer, capercaillie or black grouse, the value of the illegally acquired hunting products shall be compensated for to the State. 4. Losses that have been caused by illegal hunting down of game animals or destroying a burrow, den or nest of game animals, as well as the value of illegally acquired hunting products shall be calculated by using the following formula: Z = Dmin x K, where Z – the amount of losses caused or the value of illegally acquired hunting products (in lats); Dmin – the minimum monthly salary determined in the State (in lats); and K – the coefficient for calculating the losses or the value of illegally acquired hunting products (Annexes 1, 2 and 3). 5. If a limited game animal has been illegally killed outside the term specified in regulatory enactments, losses for each limited game animal shall be compensated for in a double amount. If a limited game animal has been injured in an illegal hunt, losses for each limited game animal shall be compensated for in the amount of 50 per cent. 7. Losses and the value of illegally acquired hunting products shall be compensated for in accordance with a report drawn up by an authorised official of the State Forest Service, the Ministry of the Environment or the State Police.
