Parab: E-mail: pgauravs@gmail.com More details will be available shortly on www.igsmumbai.wordpress.com And Introduction The non invasive method of subsurface exploration find lot of applications in infrastructure projects in recent past and have potential applications further. Such methods of exploration form a branch of Geophysics and classified as Geophysical Investigations. It involves near surface assessment of physical characteristics of media like Density, Magnetic susceptibility, Resistivity or Conductivity, Wave propagations, Acoustic impedance and Natural radioactivity. The evaluation of contrast in these parameters and its correlations to Geology forms Geophysical Investigation. It is most often used to detect or infer the presence and Geophysical data are interpreted and presented in a variety of forms, depending upon the method used and the objective of the survey. position of economically useful geological deposits, such as ore minerals; fossil fuels and other hydrocarbons; geothermal reservoirs; and groundwater reservoirs. These are classified on the basis of property assessed as Gravity, Magnetic, Electromagnetic, Resistivity and Seismic. The each methodology has its domain of application and its limitations in specific circumstances or to be used in combinations. Geophysical data are interpreted and presented in a variety of forms, depending upon the method used and the objective of the survey. They are less often used to investigate the ground conditions for Geotechnical applications. These methods have untapped potential in investigation of engineering projects considering non invasive nature and quickness. About the Workshop The workshop will give an opportunity to understand the techniques and the advanced equipments and methodology being used for the geophysical explorations. Case studies will be discussed to prove the utility of these methods in a number of situations. Interactive presentations will be conducted by experts who are highly experienced in this field.
