STALLION SERVICE CONTRACT - VISITING MARES
2005/06 BREEDING SEASON FOR THE STALLION
“LANDIOSO”
This contract is made by and between Karioi Sport Horses (“Studfarm”) and ………………………………
(“Mare Owner”) being the person responsible for the Mare – whether owned or leased .

NOTE: The Mare Owner may not substitute another mare for breeding without prior consent of the
Studfarm.

FEES: The Mare Owner agrees to pay the Studfarm the following fees:
A non-refundable Booking Fee of $200 plus GST is due at the signing of this contract. This will
ensure a place for your mare in this stallion’s book. This fee is deductible from the Service Fee of
$1800 plus GST
The remainder of the Service Fee ($1600 plus GST) is payable BEFORE the Mare arrives at the
Studfarm for inseminating.
There is no Collection Fee charged for the first cycle, however if the mare fails to conceive on the first
cycle then the Mare Owner will be charged a Collection Fee of $100 plus GST for each subsequent
cycle the Mare is bred on. (this is to cover preparation and examination of semen, disposables etc.)
There will be a $50 insemination fee per cycle
Grazing Fees of $4 plus GST per day for dry mares, $5 plus GST per day for wet mares
Mares requiring stabling will be charged at a negotiated fee per day which will include stall clean-out
and bedding.
Mares requiring hard feed will have the feed invoiced to the owners account
The Mare Owner agrees that all veterinary, farrier, foaling and other fees are in addition to the Service
Fee. These fees along with Grazing Fees will be paid promptly upon invoicing. No Mare will be
removed from the Studfarm unless all fees and costs have been paid in full.
RESERVATIONS FOR SEMEN:
The receipt of the Service Fee confirms the mare’s reservation to breed to Landioso in the current
breeding season which extends from 1st September 2005 until 1st March 2006
 The Mare Owner acknowledges that the stallion may be competing away from the Studfarm during the
breeding season, and so may not always be available to breed to the Mare. It is the Mare Owner’s
responsibility to check semen availability in advance.
 The stallion may not be available at the following times: (Subject to change)
24-27th September 2005; 4-7th November 2005; 10-11th December 2005; 17-18th December 2005; 2022nd January 2006; 28-29th January 2006
NOTE: These are tentative show dates and may change without warning. Please contact the Studfarm and
let us know when you intend to breed and we will give you an updated schedule.
4.
RETURN SERVICE CONDITIONS / LIVE FOAL GUARANTEE:



The Mare will be limited to being bred on four cycles in any one breeding season.
If the Mare fails to get in foal she may return the following season, but will be liable for another
booking fee and any associated collection / insemination costs. It is accepted that the Studfarm may
require a negative uterine culture (swab) certificate prior to the Mare’s return service.
If the Mare tests positive for pregnancy but becomes barren during gestation, she will be eligible for a
return service. A veterinary certificate of barrenness must be sent to the Studfarm within 10 days of
the examination
If the Mare produces a live foal that is unable to stand or suckle and it subsequently dies, the Mare is
eligible for a return service. A veterinary certificate must be provided to the Studfarm within 10 days
of the foal’s death. It must also state that the mare was properly cared for during gestation and was
attended at foaling. Failure to provide the certificate within the given period will make return of
service policy null and void.
If the Mare becomes unbreedable for any reason, the Mare Owner may swap the return service to
another mare after gaining the permission of the Studfarm.
All rights of return to the Stallion do not include Booking Fees, collection and transportation fees.
5.
REFUND OF FEES:



The Mare Owner will be entitled to a refund of the Service Fee if the Stallion dies or becomes unfit for
service prior to serving the mare in the present breeding season. However no refund will be given if the
Mare has already been inseminated on her first cycle at the Studfarm.
6.
TRANSFER OF CONTRACT:
This contract will not be valid if the Mare is sold or otherwise changes ownership, unless prior permission
is gained from the Studfarm.
7.
WARRANTY:


The Mare Owner hereby releases the Studfarm from any responsibility or liability for any disease,
injury or accident to the mare or accompanying foal whilst in the care of the Studfarm.
The Mare Owner hereby gives the Studfarm the permission to act as agent in an emergency situation if
the Mare owner cannot be reached in a timely fashion.
8.
ISSUE OF BREEDING CERTIFICATE:
Only one Breeding Certificate will be issued for this contract. This will pertain to the Mare described in
the contract. This will be provided once the Mare is tested 42 days in foal and all outstanding invoices
have been paid by the Mare Owner.
