Introduction and Overview
Thank you for purchasing Styles Disk #27 with 27 great new ‘Jazz n’ Pop’ styles for Band-in-a-Box.
Note: As these styles use some of the newer Stylemaker features, you must have Band-in-a-Box Version 11.0 (or
higher) for these styles to work properly.
We hope you like this latest assortment (or Jazz n’ Pop) of 27 styles in Styles Disk #27. You’ll find styles in the
Pop, Rock, Latin, Jazz and Folk genres. We’ve included a number of Jazz styles – many of which, as you requested, use the
brushes drum kit (#41). In addition, 8 of these styles make use of the ‘Half-note Sax-type voicings’ feature. These are
‘drop-2’ horn, piano or guitar-type voicings that will (for example) play 4 different voicings from one 2-bar chord. This is
the next logical extension of the ‘intelligent guitar voicings’. Speaking of that, from now on, all our guitar styles use these
smart voicings feature and for this reason, we have ceased identifying them with the “!” character. The styles cover the
range from Bebop, Folk-Pop, Bossa, Slow Swing Ballads, Jazz guitar trio comping, Sax Section with rhythm section for the
big-band sound, slow 16th styles featuring multiple guitars (strumming and arpeggios) and pads and much more.

One of the easiest ways to explore the new styles is from the ‘select style’ window (press the ‘STY’ button). If you
scroll to near the end of the categories list on the left, you can select the ‘Jazz n’ Pop 27’ category, then highlight the
individual styles and press the ‘Load song demo button’. It’s a good idea to un-check the ‘Auto-change Melody instrument’
so that you’ll hear the correct demo melody instrument. More detailed information about each style is available by pressing
the Memo button of the Demo tune. The Demo tunes for these styles follow the same naming convention as the styles
themselves. For example, the DEMO song for SHIMMER.STY is SHIMMER.MGU.
