You did not want to go into day centres first. Pete is sorting this out for the group. Thanks to Pete for that. You said you want Doctors and Nurses to understand you better when you go into hospital. Together with Salford Royal Hospital Trust we developed the ‘Patient Passport’. One person’s carer told us the hospital had sent out a Patient passport to them before they went into hospital for a planned stay. They said the doctors and nurses really took notice of what it said and that there was a huge difference in the way the person was treated during their stay. ‘You Said, We Did’ March 2010 Linzi Brook 2 You said you want college courses Kim Richardson has been working with the college to get some ‘basic skills’ courses going. You said you wanted the chance to learn more Maths and English Salford Supported Employment have been working with Sainsbury’s and Salford College to give people the chance to learn about Maths and English in real workplace settings. In other places people have found it easier to learn in work places than in a classroom. Broughton Database are doing a maths course in St George’s on Monday afternoons. Sainsbury’s and Salford Supported employment are giving people the chance to try working at Sainsbury’s with 5 definite jobs for people at the end. You said you want voluntary jobs St George’s and Broughton Database are working together so that 10 people can do a course to help them get ready to volunteer. - 5 people from St George’s - 5 people from Craig Hall ‘You Said, We Did’ March 2010 Linzi Brook 4 The Carers on the Learning Difficulties Partnership Board said it was difficult to know what some of the money (the Learning Difficulties Development Task Fund – LDDF) was being spent on. The Partnership Board agreed that Kim Richardson is to check out the opportunities of bidding for PCDL (Personal Community and Development Learning) funding and also to discuss this with Malcolm Stansfield. The Partnership Board agreed that an update on bidding for PCDL (Personal Community and Development Learning) funding will be in December’s key issues.
