You told Pete Hardman, the boss of transport, that
you wanted to come straight to the ‘Listening to
People’ group from home. You did not want to go
into day centres first.
Pete is sorting this out for the group.
Thanks to Pete for that.
You said you want Doctors and Nurses to
understand you better when you go
into hospital.
Together with Salford Royal Hospital Trust we
developed the ‘Patient Passport’.
One person’s carer told us the hospital had sent out a
Patient passport to them before they went into hospital for
a planned stay.
They said the doctors and nurses really took notice of
what it said and that there was a huge difference in the
way the person was treated during their stay.

You said you want college courses
Kim Richardson has been working with the college
to get some ‘basic skills’ courses going.
You said you wanted the chance to learn more
Maths and English
Salford Supported Employment have been working
with Sainsbury’s and Salford College to give people
the chance to learn about Maths and English in real
workplace settings.
In other places people have found it easier to learn in work places
than in a classroom.
Broughton Database are doing a maths course in St
George’s on Monday afternoons.
St George’s is doing a course that
means people can get an NVQ1 in
reception work.

You said you want paid jobs.
Sainsbury’s and Salford Supported employment are giving
people the chance to try working at Sainsbury’s with 5
definite jobs for people at the end.
You said you want voluntary jobs
St George’s and Broughton Database are
working together so that 10 people can do a
course to help them get ready to volunteer.
- 5 people from St George’s
- 5 people from Craig Hall

The Carers on the Learning Difficulties Partnership
Board said it was difficult to know what some of the
money (the Learning Difficulties Development
Task
Fund – LDDF) was being spent on.

There is a new way of describing how the
Task
LDDF money is spent.
group
Any money spent is being linked with one
of the Task Groups. We hope this makes it
easier to understand.

You said you wanted more chances to get together
with friends.
IAS Community Support has planned
some day trips over the coming year so
friends can get together for the whole day
and do the things they have said they
want to do.
