The conference, for which there will be no charge, will be of particular interest and
relevance to those involved in teaching and learning medical ethics, law and
humanities including practising clinicians, students and medical educators.
Once again there will be ten bursaries of up to £50 each for students.
Master Class Workshops:
Each of the six workshops will have 15-16 participants and they will be facilitated by an
expert or experts in the field who will explore how their medium can best be used to
explore medical ethical and legal issues.
Please rank your choice of workshop from 1 to 5 in the right hand column. You will be
able to give your ranking when you register on-line (see below). The earlier you do so
the more likely you are to get your first choice.

Student Presentations:
We invite medical students and FY1-2 doctors to submit innovative ideas on the use of
video, visual art, photography, short stories etc to express their feelings and reactions
to ethical issues they have met in their clinical attachments.
Entries should be submitted to g.m.stirrat@bristol.ac.uk by Friday 9 December 2011 as
follows:
1. Video presentations: submit no more than one page of A4 describing the
presentation.
2. Visual art and photography: submit as JPEG files no more than 1400 pixels wide
(landscape) or 1050 pixels high (portrait) with a brief (no more than 250 words)
explanation of what inspired the image.
3. Written work: submit as word documents

Up to four entries will be chosen for presentation on the day. .
There will be a prize of £200 for the entry voted best by the conference participants.

Travel bursaries of up to £50 for attending the conference will be available to
successful entrants.
