v1.0 – 20050426
NIPP-NAI-2007-152
Proposed Harms Prevention Criteria for VDSL2 Terminal Equipment
The proposed limits for VDSL2 VTU-R modems designed per Annex A of G.993.2-2006/02
Amendment 1 (2007/04) are derived from the VTU-R upstream signal power limits in Annex A
G.993.2-2006/02 Amendment 1 (2007/04) and the longitudinal output voltage limits and
transverse balance limits from T1.417-2003.
1. Signal power limitations
a. Upstream metallic signal power limits
i.
Total aggregate power limit of +14.5 dBm from Table 6.1 of G.993.2. Amendment
1.
ii. VTU-R PSD mask limits from Annex A of G.993.2 Amendment 1.
b. Upstream longitudinal output voltage limits
Existing limits for VDSL2 in TIA-968-A are sufficient. No changes proposed.
2. Transverse balance limits
Transverse balance limitations out to 30 MHz are already defined in Figure 4.11(a) of TIA-968A. The bandwidth for transverse balance testing is derived from the upstream and downstream
PSD masks. The transverse balance of VDSL2 terminal equipment shall equal or exceed the
values in Figure 4.11(a) of TIA-968-A over the entire range of frequencies specified for each
VDSL2 profile in Table 4.12 below. In addition, for VDSL2 over POTS modes, VDSL2 terminal
equipment shall meet the transverse balance limitations for analog voiceband equipment in
Section 4.6.2 of TIA-968-A.
