Award Winning Landscape Architect Tim Austen scoops
Silver Gilt at Bloom 2011 with the Bord na Móna “Growise
Garden”
Tim Austen, Super Garden design judge and award winning landscape architect
was today awarded a Silver Gilt in the large garden category for his “Growise
Garden” sponsored by Bord na Móna at Bloom 2011. The “Growise Garden” is an
imaginative and unusual garden with a bold red catwalk cutting through the garden
and is the 3rd accolade for Tim Austen at Bord Bia’s Bloom, previous awards
include the Gold medal and ‘Overall Winner’ awards at Bloom 2009 and the Gold
medal and ‘Visitors’ Choice’ awards at Bloom 2008.
“This was the most challenging garden we have designed to date, to create a
visually appealing garden for Bloom 2011, we are absolutely delighted that the
Growise Garden has received such a high accolade from such a prestigious
judging panel.
The Growise Garden is a garden designed for a creative person; maybe as an
artist's retreat. It includes sharply contrasting rustic and modern materials: there's
a funky, bold red boardwalk that cuts through the garden based on a Milan
catwalk, a beautiful hand-crafted stack-wood gazebo (made from sustainably
sourced Irish timber), paving constructed from beautiful fossil-enriched Liscannor
flagstone from West Clare, a contemporary steel seat, perspex pools and a rich
tapestry of planting” commented Tim Austen.

as a judge on RTÉ’s Super Garden and is an accredited designer with the Garden
and Landscape Designers Association (GLDA). He writes the popular blog
