John A. FRAZIER, Called by Death
Was a prominent farmer of the Godwin section, eighty-seven years old
John A. FRAZIER, died at the home of his sister, Mr. W.J. Sellers on
the Theta Pike this morning at six o'clock. Mr. Frazier was eightseven years old, living most of his life in the Godwin section. He
was held in high esteem by all that knew him and his death is a
source of grief to all. He is survived by the following children:
Mrs Will SELLERS, Will T. FRAZIER, Charlie M. FRAZIER, S. F.
FRAZIER, and Forgey FRAZIER, all of the Godwin section, and Jno.
Frazier of Columbia. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning
at 11 o'clock at Godwin's Chappel, conducted by Rev. Wait. Mr
Frazier has been for years a devout member of the Methodist church
and had a large number of relatives and friends in the county. He
was a successful farmer and a good citizen. The stewards of the
church will act as pall bearers. Oakes and Nichols, funeral
directors on charge.

John A. Frazier
John A. Frazier, aged eighty-seven years, died Friday morning at the
home of his sister, Mrs. W.J. Sellers, on the Theta pike. He was
one of the best known citizens of that section and had always been
held in the highest esteem. He was for many years a member of the
Methodist church and was a man of exemplary character. He is
survived by the following children: Mrs. Will Sellers, Will T.
Frazier, Charles M. Frazier, S.F. Frazier and Forgey Frazier, of the
Godwin section, and John Frazier, of Columbia. Funeral services
were held at Godwin Chapel Saturday morning, conducted by Rev.
Waite. Oakes & Nichols, funeral directors, in charge.

Mrs. John Fraser, Sr.
Mrs. John Fraser, Sr., died Monday night at her home on the Santa Fe
pike, after a long illness, in the seventy-eighth year of her age.
The funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock at
Godwin’s Chapel, and were conducted by Rev. Gray. Mrs. Fraser is
survived by her husband and the following children: John Fraser,
Jr., Schofield Fraser, Will Fraser, Dock Fraser, Forgey Fraser,
Charley Fraser and Mrs. Will Sellers.

M.A. COGGINS OF THETA DIES
Funeral For Aged Resident To Be Held At Home Of His Daughter, Mrs.
Forgey Fraser.
M.A. Coggin, aged 85, for many years an employee of the L & N
Railroad, died last night at midnight at his home on the Theta pike
after an illness of several months.
A native of Missouri, Mr. Coggin was a son of the late Cooper and
Elizabeth Wilks Coggin and one of the oldest residents of the
community. He was employed by the L & N railroad for 19 years and
was a member of the Methodist church.
Beside his wife, who is 84 years old, he is survived by two
daughters, Mrs. FOrgey Fraser and Mrs. E.B. Harris and his sons,
M.L.G.H.G. and J. C. Coggin, of Columbia, C.A. Coggin, of Lewisburg,
M.C. and H.M. Coggin, of Nashville, 14 grandchildren, nine great
grandchildren and one brother, E.M. Coggin.
The funeral will be conducted Thursday morning at 10:30 o’clock at
the home of his daughter, Mrs. Forgey Fraser on the Theta pike, by
the Rev. Mr. Douglass, pastor of the Godwin Chapel Church, and
burial will be in the Godwin Chapel cemetery.
Pall bearers will be Dick, Raymond, Will C. and Fulton Fraser, and
Floyd and Bernard Harris.
Oakes and Nichols in charge of arrangements.

Melisia Coggins, Native of Maury Died At Her Home
Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock tomorrow morning at the
Oakes and Nichols Chapel for Mrs. Melisia McDonald Coggins, 93,
native and lifelong resident of Maury County, who died yesterday
afternoon at 3 o’clock at her home on home on Theta Pike. She had
been in failing health for some time. Dr. B.B. Pennington will
officiate.
Widow of the late M.A. Coggins, she was the daughter of the late
Alexander and Martha Collins McDonald.
She was a member of Godwin’s Chapel Methodist Church.
She is survived by five sons, M.L.G. Coggins, Lewisburg, M.C.
Coggins, Nashville, G.H. Coggins, and J.C. Coggins, both of
Columbia; two daughters, Mrs. Fogey Fraser and Mrs. E.B. Harris,
both of Columbia; thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great
grandchildren.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Burial will be at Godwin’s Chapel Cemetery. Oakes and Nichols in
charge.

Forgey FRASER,
Retired Farmer, Dies at Home
Forgey FRASER, 84, retired Maury County Farmer, died at 11:45 p.m.
Monday at his home on Carter Street. He had been in poor health for
some time.
A son of the later John and Arentha BUTTS FRASER, he was a lifelong
resident of Maury County. Mr. FRASER spent most of his life in the
Knob Creek community but moved to Columbia about 15 year ago. His
wife, Mr. Eleto Mae COGGIN FRASER, died in 1949.
The body is at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home where services will be
conducted at 2:30 pm., Wednesday by the Rev. W. Stockman.
Survivors arae two daughters, Mr. W.E. MANGRUM and Mr. G.E. SPARKMAN
of Columbia; five sons, H.C. FRASER of Birmingham, R.C. FRASER of
Knob Creek and Dick, W.C. and Fulton FRASER of Columbia; a sister,
Mrs. Will SELLERS of the Theta Pike; 10 grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews.
Pallbears will be Doyle SULLIVAN, D.O. PRIEST, Gordon AMMONS, Elmer
WARF, Joe REED and Ernest HAYWOOD.

Leto FRASER, Funeral for Mrs. Leto Mary COGGIN Fraser, 75, wife of
Forgey Fraser died last night at her home on Carter St., following a
week's illiness will be held at 5 p.m today at Oakes and Nichols
funeral home.
The Rev. James Brewer will officiate and burial will be in Rose Hill
Cemetery
Mrs. Fraser, a daughter of the later M.A. and Melissa McDonald
COGGIN, was a native of Maury County and a member of the First
Baptist church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. W.E.
MANGRUM, of Birmingham, Ala., and Mrs. G.E. Sparkman of Columbia,
five sons, Hollis Fraser of Birmingham, Dick, Raymond. W.C. and
Fulton Fraser , all of Columbia; nine grandchildren and one great
–grandchild; one sister, Mrs. H. B. Harris of Columbia; four
brothers, J.C. COGGIN Sr., of Columbia, Cooper COGGIN of Lewisburg,
Herbert COGGIN of Maury County and Malohn COGGIN of Nashville.

Hollis C. FRASER, 79, of 123 69th St. North, who died Friday, was a
native of Columbia, Tenn. He was a member of 66th Street Baptist
Church and was a life deacon of the church. He was a member of the
Brotherhood Sunday School Class and was retired from the First
National Bank. Funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Roebuck
Chapel, with burial in Forest Hill. Survivors include hs wife, Mrs.
Annie Laurie Fraser; two sons, Hollis C. Fraser Jr., Tylertown,
Miss, and Owen WILLIAMS, Birmingham, a daughter, Mrs. Frances
Storey, Birmingham, and three brothers, R.C.Fraser, W.C.Fraser and
Fulton Fraser, all of Columbia, Tenn.
Mrs. Sellers, 96, Died At Her Home On Theta Pike
Mrs. Jennie Fraser Sellers, 96, widow of Will Sellers, died at her
home on the Theta Pike at 5:30 a.m. today following a long illness.
A life-long resident of Maury County, she was a daughter of the late
John and Arentha Butts Fraser. She had been a member of the Knob
Creek Baptist Church for 83 years.
The body is at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home, where services will be
held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. James F. Brewer, the Rev.
Robert Hall and the Rev. Burns P. Drake officiating. Burial will be
in Godwin’s Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Sellers is survived by two sons, John Sellers, with whom she
made her home, and Luther Sellers of Nashville; two grandsons, Lloyd
Fraser of Columbia and Aaron Sellers of Crossville; and several
nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Bruce Montgomery, Glen Bolton, Ralph
Beard, Dick Fraser, Doyle Sullivan and Ernest Fraser.
Honorary pallbearers will be officers of Knob Creek Baptist Church
and George W. Park, Fred Watson, Ulna and Jim Huckaby, T.I. Shaw and
Russell Smith.

Dick Fraser
Dick Fraser, 75, a longtime resident of Columbia, died Wednesday
morning at Hillview Haven Nursing Home following an extended
illness.
Services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Oakes and
Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Don Bouldin and Rev. James F. Brewer,
ministers of the Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in
Rose Hill Cemetery.
A native of Maury County, he was a son of the late Forgey and Leto
May Coggins Fraser. In 1927, he married the former Azalea Ammons who
died March 19, 1952. He later married Mrs. Cleo Walker Fraser who
survives.
He was a well-known car salesman in Columbia, and an active longtime
member of the Maury County Horseman’s Association. Mr. Fraser was
an active member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters, Mrs. Bam
(Maxine) Webster and Mrs. E.B. (Mary Carolyn) Delk Jr., both of
Columbia; one stepson, Gordon Earwood of Columbia; four brothers,
H.C. Fraser of Birmingham, Ala., R.C. Fraser, W.C. Fraser, and
Fulton Fraser, all of Columbia; three granddaughters, Lea Earwood,
Marilyn Webster, and Sherrie Delk, all of Columbia; four grandsons
Johnny Earwood of Charleston, S.C., Mark Delk, Ricky Webster and
Mike Webster, all of Columbia; and one great grandson, Christopher
Earwood of Charleston, S.C.

Fulton Fraser
Fulton Fraser, 85, a resident of West 6th Street, died Tuesday, Aug.
1, 1995, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday at First United Methodist Church
with the Rev. Frank Smith Officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill
Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday 2-4 p.m., and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral
home.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
The Knob Creek Community native was the son the late Forgey and Leto
May Coggin Fraser. An active member of First United Methodist
Church, he served as an usher for many years and on numerous
committees. He was a retired farmer and later retired as car dealer
and antique dealer.
He was a well known Tennessee walking horse judge. He has been an
exhibitor in most of the Breeders’ Open Foal Shows, being winner of
the Championship Yearling Stallion and the Grand Champion Yearling
classes of the 1954 Celebration. He was former President of Maury
County Walking Horse Association and member of the Elks Club.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Mayberry Fraser of Columbia; one
brother, R.C. Fraser of Knob Creek Community; and several nieces and
nephews.
Pallbearers will be Donald Lunn, Shelby Carpenter, David Wise, Dr.
Bob Wilhite, Joe Foster, Louis Walters, Cecil Johns, Dr. David
Williams, Bob Cathey and Bam Webster.

Mrs. George E. Sparkman

Mrs. Mosseye Fraser Sparkman, a resident of 214 Seventh Ave., and
wife of George Ewell (Pee Wee) Sparkman, died late Tuesday night
following a short illness. Mrs. Sparkman had been confined to the
Maury County Hospital for several days and was enroute to the St.
Thomas Hospital in Nashville when death came.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sparkman will be conducted at 11:30 a.m.
Thursday at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. James W.
Bloodworth, minister of the Riverside Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Born in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Forgey and
Leto Coggins Fraser. She spent most of her life in Maury County and
was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to her husband include two sons, Arnold
Sparkman and William Jackson Sparkman, both of Columbia; five
brothers, Hollis Fraser of Birmingham, Ala., and Dick Fraser,
Raymond C. Fraser, Will C. Fraser and Fulton Fraser, all of Columbia
and seven grandchildren.

Mrs. William E. Mangrum

Mrs. Effie Pillow Fraser Mangrum, 79, a native of Maury County and a
long time resident of Birmingham, died Tuesday afternoon at the
Maury County Hospital following several months illness.
Mrs. Mangrum had been making her home in Columbia for the past two
years with her sister, Mrs. Mosseye Fraser Sparkman at 214 Seventh
Avenue.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mangrum will be conducted at 11 a.m.
Thursday at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Arthur
Robins, minister of the Riverside Methodist Church, and the Rev.
William Comperry, minister of the First Methodist Church,
officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Mangrum was the daughter of the late Forgey and Leto Mae Coggin
Fraser. She was a member of the Riverside Methodist Chruch. Mrs.
Mangrum was the wife of the late William E Mangrum who died Dec. 5,
1969.
Survivors in addition to her sister, Mr. G.E. Sparkman, include
fiver brothers, H.C. Fraser of Birmingham, Richard O. “Dick” Fraser,
R.C. Fraser, W.C. Fraser, and Fulton Fraser, all of Columbia; and
several nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and greatnephews.

Eddie Delk, Bill Wallace, Joe John, Lewis Mangrum, Owen Williams and
