The Building Inspection Department
(870-425-2550) is located at 2903 Highway
201 North (in the Street Department building).
The Planning Commission and Zoning Board
address planning, zoning and annexation for
the city through this office. This office handles
inspections and permits for all phases of new
construction/remodeling within the city limits.
Building Inspection also enforces the City
Ordinance addressing unsightly, unsanitary
and nuisance properties.
The Mountain Home District Court
(425-3140) has civil and small claims
jurisdiction up to $5,000.00 and processes
traffic and misdemeanor violations of the law.

federal laws. The Police Department provides
a Special Response Team, three School
Resource Officers, a K-9 Unit and community
oriented programs (some for citizen
participation).

Mountain Home is a city of the 1st Class
with a mayor/council form of government. The
Mayor is elected to a four-year term. Council
members are elected to two-year terms.
The city is divided into four wards with two
council members representing the ward in
which they live. City Council meetings are held
at 6:00p.m. on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each
month at City Hall and are open to the public.
The City Clerk publishes the agenda for all
council meetings.
A City Council meeting can be cancelled if:
 There is no agenda.
 There will not be a quorum.
 Inclement weather.

The City Clerk (870-425-5943) (8:00am -
4:30pm Mon-Fri) is an elected official with a 4year term of office. The Clerk’s office is
located in City Hall at 720 South Hickory
Street. The Clerk is the custodian of City
Ordinances and serves as secretary to council
meetings and public hearings. The Clerk also
issues pet/business/peddler licenses, farmers’
market and garage/yard sale permits.
The Parks & Recreation Department
(870-424-9311) is located at 1101 Spring
Street. You can find City of Mountain Home
parks at the following locations:

Cooper Park – 1101 Spring St.



Hickory Park – 466 So. Hickory St.
Twin Lakes Park – 1634 Rossi Rd.
Keller Complex – 1638 Rossi Rd.
City parks have pavilions for reservation (4247275), picnic tables and playground areas.
Volleyball, baseball, softball, soccer fields, an
outdoor pool, walking trails, and other
amenities are available at the different parks.
L C Sammons Youth Center (4247275) (division of Parks Department) is
located in Cooper Park and provides a gym
and activities for youth ages 10 through 17.
When schools are in session, the Youth Center
is open 3:00 – 6:00p.m. When schools are out
of session for holidays, vacations or the
summer season, the Youth Center is open
11:00a.m. – 6:00p.m. The Youth Center is not
open Sundays.
Van Matre Senior Center (424-3054) (owned
and operated by the Area Agency on Aging
870-741-1144) is also located in Cooper Park
and provides senior day care with lunch,
activities and transportation services to and
from the Center. The Senior Center also
provides the Meals on Wheels Program for
homebound elderly.
Water & Sewer Services Office (870425-5115) is located in City Hall at 720 South
Hickory Street. This department constructs
and maintains underground water and sewer
lines for residential and commercial hookup.
Drinking water quality and safety is monitored
in accordance with State Government
regulations. A drinking water quality report is
sent to customers annually. (Trash service is
provided by NABORS 870-425-3213.)
The
Fire
Department
(NonEmergency: 425-2611) is located at 720
South Hickory Street at the rear of City Hall
and is proud to have a Class III ISO rating
which means lower insurance rates for
residents and businesses.

The Fire Inspector oversees residential and
commercial burning of yard waste inside the
city limits.
Street Department (870-425-4708) is
located at 2903 Highway 201 North. The
Street Department builds and maintains City
streets, curbing, sidewalks (some belong to the
Arkansas State Highway Department), culverts
and drainage ditches; and, is the contact for
streetlight and traffic light problems.
This department also takes care of street signs
and removes snow and ice on City streets
during inclement weather. (The Arkansas State
Highway Department handles snow/ice
removal and repairs on State Highways
running through the city limits).
