Summerville Family YMCA Flowertown Festival Selected as Southeast Tourism Society’s Top
20 Event
Summerville, SC—November 13, 2006—The Summerville Family YMCA is proud to announce that
the 34th Annual Flowertown Festival has been selected as one of Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20
Events for the month of April 2006. This is the third consecutive year, and fourth time overall, the
Southeast Tourism Society has honored the Festival. The 2007 Festival is planned for March 30 –
April 1.
“The staff of the Summerville Family YMCA is proud that the Flowertown Festival continues to be
recognized as one of the top events in the Southeast,” John Rhoden, YMCA CEO states. “Our staff is
dedicated to making this fundraising event a wonderful experience for our entire community and
region.”
The Southeast Tourism Society recognizes the many unique and diverse events in the region,
and in 1985, STS began the Top 20 Events Program. For every month of the year, STS selects
20 of the top events across the Southeast and publishes them quarterly. This publication goes
to over 300 newspapers, magazines, radio & TV stations, as well as 125 AAA publications.
The combined circulation runs into the millions. To be nominated for a Top 20 Event, an
event must be at least in its 3rd year and must have a minimum attendance of 1000.
“The Top 20 Events represents the best festivals the Southeast has to offer. Events that win this honor
benefit from the widespread exposure and prestige that being named a Top 20 Events affords,” says
Laura Guptill, STS Coordinator of the Top 20 Events Program.
