Research Fee Policy
The following guidelines or requirements shall apply to all those who seek to do research
at or through the Society’s Sylvan Street Museum:
1. Museum staff members shall grant researchers requiring assistance up to 30
minutes of personal attention at no charge for an initial search or service. Any
further time required shall carry with it a charge of $35.00 dollars per hour of time
spent on the project.
2. Researchers doing independent work at the Museum and not requiring staff
assistance beyond 30 minutes shall not be charged. If staff guidance exceeds 30
minutes the researcher will be advised that the $35.00 per hour fee will be
charged for further time accrued.
3. Researchers not incurring a charge will be asked for a donation and/or to join the
Society.
4. Researchers requiring billable services shall be advised at the outset of the
project. what the charges will be for museum staff assistance. A maximum
estimated amount of time to be allotted to the project shall be agreed upon at this
time. If, as the project progresses, it becomes clear that more time is required, a
renegotiation with the researcher shall take place. Payment for each segment of a
project shall be made in advance to the Society.
5. Any charges for scanning of images or documents, printing of this material,
postage, or any other non-labor charges, shall be in addition to the labor charges
noted above. Fees for these services shall be in accordance with separately
established existing rates.
6. This policy statement shall be accessible through the Society’s web site.
