For Immediate Release Wednesday, February 17, 2016 North Wellington Health Care Board Updates Mount Forest, ON… The North Wellington Health Care (NWHC) Board of Directors met recently to discuss strategic and quality improvement plans, and by-law amendments for board composition. NWHC and alliance partner, Groves Memorial Community Hospital, worked together to create a consolidated strategic plan. The board approved plan maps out the expected priorities for the next four years with the core theme of “Quality Care, Close to Home.” “The plan continues to build on NWHC’s quality work to-date.” states Tom Sullivan, NWHC Board Chair. “Our responsibility is to ensure our strategic decisions support best patient care and patient outcomes, realizing system innovation and change through system improvements. All done while optimizing our work environment and being in the best financial position to assure long-term success.” The plan includes major capital projects planned at each of the hospital site. “This plan was developed to align with the Waterloo-Wellington Local Health Integration Network (WWLHIN) strategic planning.” explains Jerome Quenneville, NWHC President and CEO. “Working with our partners will ensure that our communities receive the best health care possible.” Monitoring tools are built into the plan to ensure strategic plan goals are achieved. NWHC’s Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) for 2014-15 is posted on the website at nwhealthcare.ca. The updated plan reflects legislative changes to NWHC’s Senior Management Team performance-based compensation. Sullivan explains, “The new targets are challenging and aimed to encourage our Senior Management Team to meet the quality improvements goals.” The annual nominating process to fill director vacancies on the NWHC Board has begun. “It has been a challenge to find the dedicated volunteers desired from within the corporation’s catchment areas.” explains Quenneville. “The Board amended the hospital by-laws to adjust the board expectations for recruiting members from each catchment area in order to help fill the positions. Louise Marshall Hospital and Palmerston & District Hospital (PDH) will continue to have a balanced base representation with two (2) directors-at-large. The total elected directors will remain at twelve (12).” For more information on becoming a board member please contact Chair of the Nominating Committee, 630 Dublin St. Mount Forest ON N0G 2L3, phone (519) 323-3333 x 2256 or email mmacdonald@nwhealthcare.ca The next NWHC Board Meeting is 7:00 pm on June 12th, 2014 at PDH and the Annual General Meeting will be at 6:30 pm June 19th, 2014 at the PDH.
