Identity Assignment
Identity is a huge part of people’s lives. People spend large amounts of time developing
their identity.
For this assignment, it will be broken up into three different parts
Part 1:
Create a poster to show how your understandings of the concept of nation shape – and are
shaped by – your identity, and be prepared to explain how your posters represents your
response to the question for this related issue: Should nation be the foundations of
identity?
You may use pictures, drawings, or captions to help illustrate identity. Remember to use
symbols, animals, plants, buildings, geography, songs, etc to help define identity. You
must have a title for your poster.
Part 2:
To show the relationship between your identity and your understandings of nations, you
will choose symbols or images to place on your poster. For each symbol, your notes
should include:




a description
the reason of for your choice and why
How you demonstrate/tell people about this identity
an explanation of the connections between the symbol, your identity, and
your understandings of nation
Keep in mind that you may decide that nation should not play a role as a foundation of
your identity. If this is the case, the symbols you choose should reflect this position.
Part 3:
You will construct a one page (double spaced) response to the related issue question for
this assignment: Should nation be the foundations of identity? Be sure to provide support
and examples in your response. Remember I can only grade you on your evidence not
opinion.
