CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, LONG BEACH SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY DEPARTMENT Fulfillment of Undergraduate Requirements for Graduate Enrollment 1. Students applying to the graduate program in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) MUST have completed one of the two prerequisites: a. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a major in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP); OR b. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a discipline other than SLP, but with equivalent SLP coursework o NOTE: Applicant must have at least 30 semester units (45 quarter units) of coursework in SLP BEFORE enrollment in the graduate program (regardless of the program applied to, Traditional or Cohort); however 36 semester units (54 quarter units) are preferred. Students who do not meet above requirements are NOT eligible to apply and will not be accepted into either of our graduate programs. 2. Prerequisite coursework MUST meet the following guidelines: 1. Coursework in SLP must have been completed at an ASHA (CAA) accredited university. 2. A minimum of 30 semester units (45 quarter units) in SLP coursework must be completed before enrollment in the graduate program; 36 semester units (54 quarter units) completed are preferred. 3. The applicant MUST have similar content in SLP coursework to the courses listed below. In order to assist in determining undergraduate course equivalency, a description of content covered in each of the courses listed below is attached. NOTE: Content can be covered in multiple courses and does not have to be completed in the exactly the same types of courses as listed below, but similar content MUST have been covered in your undergraduate program. As such, if you are completing additional coursework during the Spring admittance semester, if accepted to the graduate program, you are responsible for submitting transcripts documenting completion of this coursework during the summer prior to enrolling in your first graduate course in the Fall.
