Student Info Sheet 1. Collect Summer Work: Essay #1 Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck: Social Issues Many works of literature deal with political or social issues. For your second essay, analyze how a character, when alienated because of gender, race, class or creed, reveals the surrounding society’s assumptions and moral issues. Essay #2: “For That He Looked Not upon Her,” George Gascoigne 2. Cultural Literacy Icebreaker: What is cultural literacy? What should a culturally literate person know? 3. Discuss Course: Our Exam is Wed., May 6th, 2015. The exam consists of 55 MC questions and three essays (one poetry, one prose, one open response). Weekly Vocabulary Quizzes (check website—we will begin next week) Multiple-Choice (MC) Section next block (review literary terms—we will take a brief quiz today to see where you are….)
