You are terminally ill. You have tried everything and you know your days are numbered. You have come to terms with this and would like to donate your organs. A TV station has approached you and invited to take part in a show where you will meet 3 people who need a liver transplant. They will both introduce themselves to you and at the end of the programme you will select the person who will get your liver after you die. The audience will help you make this decision by voting for one of the contestants. Then you’ll have to explain how you made your decision. At the beginning of the programme you will tell your story. Make it up. The audience may ask you some questions. You have felt unwell recently and when you had some tests done, it turned out your liver is failing and you need a transplant. A TV station advertised a show where a terminally ill person will donate his/her liver to one of three ‘contestants’. You replied to the ad and after a series of examinations the doctors said you’re a perfect match. However, there are two other people who also need a new liver. You will all present your stories to the donor and the audience in the studio. Both the audience and the donor will ask you some questions and eventually the donor will make a decision. Try to convince him/her and the audience that you deserve to be chosen. You can make up a name, but need to tell the truth about your age, gender, nationality. Also, whatever information you make up, it should be plausible, i.e. you cannot be a Nobel Prize winner or a film star. You are the host of The Big Donor Show – a TV show where a terminally ill person will decide who of three contestants with a liver condition each will get his/her liver after he/she has died. Your task is to introduce the theme to the audience at the beginning of the show and then introduce the participants. You need to find out some background info about them, e.g. their names, age, occupation, etc. Each person will tell their story. As they will be dramatic, you may need to give the people support, ask for clarification, etc. After each participant has told their story, encourage the audience to ask questions. Also, make sure that the audience understand that medically the chances for a successful transplantation are exactly the same for all three people but only one contestant can be saved and the other two will probably die. At the end of the show the audience will vote by secret ballots. The donor will see the results and can take them into account when making the final decision.
