General Scholarship Application (for currently enrolled UNT students) Academic Year 2015-2016 Deadline Monday, February 16, 2015 You are eligible to receive a scholarship if: Undergraduate students o Must currently be a journalism major o Must have or will successfully meet all prerequisites for JOUR 3321 or 3323 or 3020 after this spring semester o Have a minimum 2.5 UNT GPA at time of application o Will be enrolled full-time (12 hours or more) in the fall 2015 semester Graduate students o Must be enrolled full-time (9 hours). There are two exceptions: 1) If the scholarship allows for part-time OR if the graduate school has approved full-time status for a student having only thesis hours to complete. The deadline for mailing by USPS is a February 16, 2015 post mark on your mailing envelope. Awarding of Scholarships Scholarships will be presented at the annual Celebrate Mayborn event sponsored by the Mayborn School of Journalism. The date is Thursday, April 30. The location is the Gateway Ballroom. Scholarship recipients not attending the event will be notified by mail. Scholarships are paid via financial aid. They are applied to the student’s fall and spring semester tuition costs (half in fall 2015; half in spring 2016) providing the student is enrolled as full time. Students graduating in December 2015 receive only half the scholarship award and, depending on the scholarship, only if they are enrolled as full time students. Should you be awarded a scholarship your essay will be given to the donor of the scholarship. All recipients are required to write a thank you letter to their respective scholarship donors and submit it along with a signed acceptance form to the Mayborn School of Journalism.
