Interventional radiology is surgery of the 21st century. Interventional radiology procedures or minimally invasive surgeries are performed by interventional radiologists who are specially trained to perform intervention under imaging guidance through small skin incision, less than 1 centimeter. Several imaging techniques such as X-rays, Ultrasound, CT and MRI are used to guide sophisticated tools and small instruments through the blood vessels and other pathways of the body to the site of a problem, treating a variety of medical disorders without surgery. Procedures only requiring mild sedation and local anesthesia with much less pain and shorter hospital stay than conventional surgery. My expertise and clinical knowledge serve our community of patients and educate medical students, residents, fellows in training and referring physicians.
