WalkingWomen Intermediate Peloponnese, Greece 02-09 May (Sat-Sat) For our Greek walking holiday we are based in beautiful Kardamili, in the wild area of Mani, Southern Peloponnese. The village has a selection of interesting shops (look out for mountain tea, local honey, handmade soaps, jewellery, etc, etc) and there are plenty of cafes to enjoy. The walks, led by Caroline who lives half of the year up the hill from Kardamili) give us the chance to explore the history and culture as well as the truly magnificent scenery around us. May is the perfect time for us to enjoy the host of wild flowers that abound here. The walks take in both inland and coastal routes with some climbs and more difficult terrain underfoot. Most of the routes follow old mule tracks “kalderimi” between villages and give us the chance to see truly unspoilt parts of the area. The descent of the spectacular Viros Gorge is a highlight of the week, along with swimming in secluded coves and glimpsing into beautiful frescoed churches. We will stop in village kafeneons for coffee, or sometimes lunch, and to watch the world go by. We will do 5 days walking with an optional excursion on the free day. Price includes: 7 nights B&B, airport transfer from Kalamata, transport to walks. Not included: lunch and dinner, flight Staying in the smart seafront Liakoto studios/hotel you get the chance to unwind by the sea, or relax by the pool or in the bar. All rooms have balconies and are in a peaceful location. The accommodation is on a bed and breakfast basis, we will make our own packed lunches using the local bakery and shops, and evening meals are in local tavernas. The apartments have self-catering facilities so making lunch and hot drinks is no problem.
