CSULA Japanese Speech Contest Entry Form
California State University, Los Angeles will be hosting a Japanese Speech Contest from 1:30
pm until 4:00 pm on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Cal State L.A. The contestants should be
non-native speakers of Japanese and current students of the Japanese language at high schools,
two-year colleges, and universities, who have not lived in Japan for more than two consecutive
years after the age of 6. Each contestant will speak on a topic of his or her choice, and the
time limit of the speech will be 7 minutes. The selection of 25 contestants will be on a firstcome, first-served basis. Applications will be accepted until the limit of 25 is reached.
Prizes include gift certificates redeemable at Kinokuniya Bookstore. Additional prizes are
contingent upon funding. If any of your students are interested in participating in the contest,
please send the applicants’ names and their level of Japanese to Dr. Toshiko Yokota,
tyokota@calstatela.edu.
