SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FORM
Purpose: The Gardner family owners of Iowa Family Farms, a third generation family farm
operation, strongly believe in education. We know that children receiving a quality education
have a solid foundation for success later in life. We are committed to our local communities,
high schools and the youth involved in them. We want to positively support our youth in
furthering their education by providing college scholarships to two high school students. Eligible
applicants must graduate from a high school located in Jasper, Marion, Mahaska, or Poweshiek
counties in Iowa. This application may be copied or go to www.iafamilyfarms.com after
February 15, 2012 and download an application.
Scholarship Details
1. Two $500 scholarships will be awarded.
2. One scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from Newton High School.
3. One scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from a school district in the
following counties: Jasper, Marion, Mahaska and Poweshiek counties in Iowa. No more
than one scholarship will be awarded from any one school district.
4. Checks will be distributed to the college of choice at the completion of the recipient’s
first semester and enrollment for the second semester.
5. Application deadline: April 20, 2012.
6. Scholarships may be awarded to a four year college, 2 year junior college and certain
trade school programs.
7. All award decisions will be final and will be made by the Iowa Family Farms Scholarship
Fund Board. All winners will be notified no later than May 1, 2012.
Requirements
1. Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
2. Two letters of recommendation, one from a high school teacher or coach and one from an
unrelated member of the community. Letters may be photocopied, but must be signed by
the author.
3. Must submit a short essay, as outlined in the application.

5. On a separate sheet of paper, and in 100 words or less, answer the following
question: “What have you learned in your high school years that will change the
way you will approach college?”
